Where to Find Meteorite Fragment
3 Pals drop Meteorite Fragment when defeated or captured, which is usually the faster route if you are already out hunting — the drop list below is sorted by how reliably each one gives it up.
There is no permanent meteorite deposit anywhere on Palpagos. Coal has 824 mapped nodes, Pure Quartz 607, Sulfur 655 and plain rock over twelve thousand, and the Meteorite Fragment has not one — the game holds the meteorite only as an event object, in two forms: a loose piece you walk over and collect, and a rock you have to break. The breakable one carries 2,500 HP behind 4 defence and counts as Stone, which is the same toughness as a small roadside boulder, softer than the 4,500 of a large one and a quarter of the 10,000 an ore, coal or quartz deposit takes. It is filed as Mining rank 1 work and flagged workable both by you and by base camp Pals, so a pickaxe is enough, a single pip of Mining suitability is enough, and anything that lands inside your walls can be assigned to a worker rather than swung at by hand. The rock is not the obstacle — being in the right place while it exists is.
If your base sits in the Snowfields the fragments come to you, which is the one route here that repeats on a schedule you control. All three Snowfields herd raids finish on a wave of Xenogard and Xenovader at Lv 23–26, and because both drop at 100% the wave is a guaranteed payout rather than a roll: the Tier 3 herd sends 1 Xenogard and 3 Xenovader for 14–42 fragments, the Tier 4 herd 2 and 4 for 22–64, and the endgame herd 3 and 5 for 30–86 in a single defence. Nothing else on this page pays that reliably — the same Pals have no wild spawn population, no merchant anywhere stocks the fragment, and no expedition returns it. Build cold, keep a defensible layout, and stop paying raiders off.
The oil rigs carry their own Xenovader. It is a separate hardened build of the same Pal — triple the enemy HP multiplier of the wild version, standing alongside toughened Knocklem, Faleris, Incineram Noct, Helzephyr and Leezpunk — and it hands over the identical 3 to 10 fragments at 100% when it goes down. That matters because a rig run is something you already do for schematics and crates, so the fragments are free weight on a trip you were making anyway. Plan the carry: at 3.0 each, sixty fragments is 180 weight you did not budget for.
Using Meteorite Fragment Well
Do not put these in a Crusher, whatever the item description suggests. The conversion is real — one fragment becomes 3 Paldium Fragment for 1,000 work, against 5 Stone or 2 Copper Ore for a single Paldium at the same 1,000 — so per cycle a fragment does the work of fifteen stone. It is still a bad trade twice over. In gold you turn 1,000 into 210, and the weight is identical either way at 3.0 in and 3.0 out, so you are not even buying inventory space. More to the point, Paldium comes off blue rocks that respawn all over the map forever while fragments come off an event, and finishing the meteorite tree costs about 300 of them: 200 for the Legendary Meteor Launcher, 30 each for the Xenolord and Xenogard saddles, 10 for Selyne's, and 10 apiece for Anubis's Talisman, the Ground Support Whistle and the Ring of Ground Resistance, before a single round of Meteorite Ammo. Crush stone, bank the fragments.
