Moldron Cryst Saddle

Essential · Essential_PalGear2

Tack that makes Moldron Cryst safe to ride.

Nothing is crafted from it — it is an end product, so anything you make is meant to be used rather than banked as a component.

Where to Find Moldron Cryst Saddle

Moldron Cryst Saddle is not something you find lying around — you craft it, and the recipe is below.

Using Moldron Cryst Saddle Well

Ice Overload is a weak-point multiplier rather than a flat damage boost, and Ice has exactly one weakness to exploit in this game: Dragon. Every step of the 25 / 27 / 30 / 34 / 40% ladder pays in full against a Dragon target and pays nothing at all against anything else, so the saddle is worth carrying for specific fights instead of as a standing buff. The two it was built for are the endgame raids — Blazamut Ryu is Dragon / Fire and Xenolord is Dark / Dragon, both level 80 in their second tier. The ladder climbs with condense rank on Moldron Cryst itself, so an uncondensed one hands you 25% and only a five-star reaches 40.

There is a second Ice damage line that reads almost identically on the tooltip and behaves nothing like this one. The Ice Support Whistle, the Ice Emperor's Baton and Frostallion's Talisman all carry Pal Ice Damage Enhancement, which lifts every Ice hit your active Pal lands no matter what it hits. Ice Overload only fires into the weakness. They sit in different slots and do different jobs: a Dragon fight can run both, while against a Fire or Neutral target the accessory still works and the saddle contributes zero.

It is built on the Pal Gear Workbench, and that bench is the one part of this whole chain you already own: technology 6, 2 points, 10 Paldium Fragment plus 30 Wood and 2 Cloth, and there is no upgraded tier of it anywhere in the game. A level 70 saddle comes off the same starter bench a saddle for a level 5 Pal does. What does change is throughput — the craft carries 48,000 work against 40,000 for the plain Moldron Saddle and 30,000 for the median piece of Pal gear, and the bench takes any Pal with Handiwork rank 1 or better, so park your best Handiwork Pals on it before you queue the order rather than watching one Lamball chip away at it.

The recipe gates on Coralum Ingot, which is its own technology unlock at level 62 and refines only in a Gigantic Furnace, so the line should already be running by the time this saddle comes up eight levels later — but the ore behind it never comes out of the ground. Coralum Ore is a seabed material: oil rig crates, sea base enemy camps in Sakurajima and Feybreak, wreck salvage, and the Sunreach Isle expeditions. Start it before you spend the points or the recipe sits there unbuildable. The 20 Ice Organ are the painless half, since every Moldron Cryst you drop while hunting for one to catch pays out 4 to 5, and Frostallion pays 10.

Nothing about the chassis changes between the two Moldron saddles. Moldron and Moldron Cryst move on identical numbers — 650 run, 850 ride sprint, 270 stamina, no transport rating on either — yet this one wants 4 technology points at level 70 where the plain Moldron Saddle wants 2 at level 36. The whole premium is the skill swap, and the swap is drastic: Moldron's Magma Overload is Ranged Attack +4% rising to +8%, near the floor of the partner skill table, against a 25-to-40% weak-point multiplier here. Price the 4 points as the cost of the buff and treat the mount as something thrown in.

Do not build it to travel on. Of the 77 ground mounts only eleven are slower than 850 ride sprint, and the great majority of the faster ones have saddles you could already have unlocked by level 70 — Pyrin runs 1300 off a technology 29 saddle. What Moldron Cryst does own is the fuel tank: 270 stamina against a ground-mount median of 150, beaten by only five Pals in the game and tied by three, so it holds a sprint far longer than the top speed suggests. That makes it tolerable for short hops around a base and still the wrong animal for crossing the map.

Moldron Cryst SaddleMoldron Cryst's Gear

Moldron Cryst Saddle is Moldron Cryst's own gear — no other Pal can equip it, and Moldron Cryst cannot be ridden or put to work in its geared role until you have this in your inventory.

Equipping it turns on Moldron Cryst's partner skill, Ice Overload.

Moldron Cryst is Ice / Ground, which is what decides where it is worth taking — the gear does not change its typing, only what you can do with it.
