How to Get Mimog
Mimog is Neutral, so a Dark attacker takes it down fastest — and a Pal it resists will drag the fight long enough for it to heal or flee.
Wild Mimog spawn between level 10 and 80. The higher end resists spheres noticeably harder, so it is worth hunting the low-level spawns for your first catch and saving the high ones for a condenser stack.
Its capture rate is 0.8, which makes it among the most stubborn in the game, so bring your highest sphere tier and expect to burn a stack.
Mimog is not something you spot wandering the map — it sits still disguised as an ordinary treasure chest, and only drops the disguise once you interact with it. Every marked spawn spot is really a chest that may or may not be the real thing, so approach loot in those areas expecting a fight.
The moment it reveals itself it runs, and its sprint speed (2000) is in the same class as the fastest flying mounts in the game. On foot you will not catch it, and a slow mount will not either — the escape happens in the first couple of seconds.
DarkPlaying Mimog Well
Cage it before you open it. Place foundations and walls in a tight box around the chest, leaving yourself inside, then trigger it — with nowhere to bolt it has to stand and fight, which turns an unwinnable chase into a normal capture.
If you would rather not build, open the chest and immediately land a stun — an Electric or Ice Grenade thrown at your own feet works because you are standing right on top of it — then chain damage while it is locked down. Its 130 Defense is the highest tier in the game, so bring a weapon that actually hurts rather than expecting to whittle it with a bow.
Throw the best sphere you own on the first opening. A failed throw costs you the whole encounter here in a way it does not with a grounded Pal, because the break-out animation gives it the head start it needs to leave.
