Carbon Fiber

Material · MaterialProccessing0

Light and sturdy at the same time. It goes into armor and other equipment, and comes from a Production Assembly Line.

Carbon Fiber feeds 92 different recipes, which is why it is worth farming past the point you think you need it.

Carbon Fiber Crafting Recipe

What it really costs, once every sub-recipe is expanded
Work: 10000

Crafting it takes 6 materials across 2 types, and the bottleneck is almost always the 5× requirement — line that up first and the rest follows.

Where to Find Carbon Fiber

1 Pal drops Carbon Fiber when defeated or captured, which is usually the faster route if you are already out hunting — the drop list below is sorted by how reliably each one gives it up.

One Technology purchase at level 35, costing 2 points, hands you two separate builds rather than one. The version in the recipe panel above — 5 Charcoal and 1 Flame Organ — is the wood-fed route; the other asks for 2 Coal and the same 1 Flame Organ. Both sit at 10,000 work for a single unit and both return one, so nothing is gained or lost by picking either, and there is no second research cost for the one you did not plan on running. Which one you use is a question about what your base already produces, not about tiers.

Neither route is really gated on coal or charcoal — it is the Flame Organ. One goes in per unit whichever build you run, and the totals downstream get ugly fast: the Legendary Gatling Gun wants 140 Carbon Fiber, so 140 Flame Organs, and the Megaboost Gun wants 200. A Ranch is the cheap answer, because Rooby, Kelpsea Ignis and Flambelle all produce Flame Organ while grazing and none of the three is a late capture. Otherwise 37 Pals drop it on death — Blazamut for a flat 10, Suzaku 5 to 10, Bushi Noct 4 to 8, Ragnahawk and Reptyro 5 to 7 — and the Caravan, Dungeon, Village and Volcano shops all stock it at 300 gold apiece if you would rather buy than farm.

How to Get Carbon Fiber — Dropped By 1 Pal

Using Carbon Fiber Well

Automating the coal side arrives two levels after the fiber does. Coal Quarry is Technology 37 and costs 100 Coal, 70 Stone, 30 Paldium Fragment and 10 Ancient Civilization Parts to put down, so the first hundred coal still has to come off the map — there are 824 nodes across the islands — before the facility can start replacing them. The wood side has no such wait: Logging Site is Technology 7, and neither facility draws power. The work per Carbon Fiber lands close either way. Ten Wood at 800 each, five Charcoal at 1,000 each and the 10,000 craft comes to about 23,000; two Coal at 8,000 each out of the quarry plus the same 10,000 comes to 26,000. The real separator is staffing — the quarry needs a Mining Pal, the wood line a Lumbering one — so run whichever suitability your base is already deep in and ignore the other.
