Assault Rifle

Weapon · WeaponAssaultRifle4

Assault Rifle is 46th of 70 assault rifles by attack, at 560 against the 15,000 of Charge Rifle.

No recipe takes it as an ingredient. Whatever you build is the finished article, so there is no reason to hoard spares.

At 15 weight each it eats carry capacity fast, so bring a mount or park a chest nearby. At 120,000 gold it is worth real money to a merchant.

Assault Rifle Crafting Recipe

Work: 3200000

Crafting it takes 124 materials across 4 types, and the bottleneck is almost always the 80× requirement — line that up first and the rest follows.

Where to Find Assault Rifle

The recipe is not on the Technology tree — it is locked behind a schematic you have to find first. The best single source is crates on the oil rigs at 1.8% per container, and the table below lists every tier and where each one drops.

Using Assault Rifle Well

The Legendary is built at the plain Weapon Assembly Line, unlocked at level 32 for 3 Technology points — thirteen levels under the tree's own Assault Rifle entry at 45, which costs 4 points and only ever gives you the base gun. An early schematic therefore skips the ladder entirely: 560 attack, a 30-round magazine and 6,000 durability against the 320, 20 and 3,000 you would otherwise be researching at 45. The catch is the work value, 3,200,000 against 100,000 for the base rifle, which at level 32 means a queue measured in real hours unless you stack the bench with high-rank Handiwork Pals first — extra materials do nothing for it. The schematic also has to be in your own inventory when you walk up to the bench; a copy left in a base chest never adds the recipe to the menu.

Owning the rifle early opens a hole the schematic does not close: Assault Rifle Ammo is its own separate research at level 45, so between crafting the gun at 32 and reaching that unlock there is no way to make a single round. Buying is the bridge — the Caravan, Desert, Volcano and Wander shops all stock it at 90 gold — which turns the wait into a money problem instead of a level one. At that price one full 30-round magazine costs 2,700 gold, so an early Legendary is a boss-fight weapon rather than something to carry on patrol. It also flips the value of the Alpha grind: a single Blazamut clear's worth of Precious Claw covers several hundred purchased rounds.

One Pal in the whole game hands over Assault Rifle Schematic 4, and it has to be the Alpha: the level 52 Blazamut standing in Mount Obsidian, at a 3% roll per kill. Wild Blazamut are no substitute — all 16 of their spawn points carry the ordinary drop table, which has no schematic in it at all. Mount Obsidian Trail is the closest fast travel point to the Alpha, so the reset loop is short. Two guaranteed payouts make the misses tolerable: every clear leaves 5 to 7 Ancient Civilization Parts, and this rifle's recipe asks for exactly 4, so the run that finally drops the schematic arrives with the one material you cannot mine already paid for. Every clear also leaves 5 to 7 Precious Claw, listed at 7,500 gold each.

If you would rather open containers than fight the Alpha, the pools are not equally priced, and the ranking is not the one the raw percentages suggest. Five of a tier fuse into one of the next at the drafting table, so a Schematic 1 is worth one-125th of a Legendary and the four tiers in a pool have to be added up together. Doing that per hundred rolls of the slot: sea base enemy camp boss stashes in the Snowfields come out at roughly 2.2 Legendary-equivalents, crates on the oil rigs at 1.9, tier 2 treasure map digs at 1.8, and every ordinary chest, fishing and camp pool between 0.3 and 0.5 — a four-to-seven-fold difference for the same amount of opening. The oil rigs are strange in a useful way: their Schematic 4 rate of 1.78% is ten times their Schematic 3 rate of 0.17%, the only pool where the Legendary is the likeliest tier rather than the rarest. These are shares of a slot's rolls rather than per-container odds, but they are all measured the same way, so the order holds.

Ammunition Assault Rifle Uses

Assault Rifle fires Assault Rifle Ammo, and nothing else — running dry mid-fight is the usual way this weapon lets you down, so keep the recipe unlocked before you rely on it.

Schematics That Unlock Assault Rifle

Assault Rifle is not learned from the Technology tree — you need a schematic for it. One schematic grants the recipe, and they are world loot — chests, boss Pals and the late-game pools — rather than anything you research. Higher-rarity copies of the same schematic raise the quality of what you end up crafting.

Fastest route. Two routes to the top-tier Assault Rifle schematic, and they are not measured in the same thing: about 33 kills hunting it directly from blazamut (alpha), or roughly 68 containers farming the 3★ copy from sea base enemy camp boss stashes in the Snowfields and fusing five. Which is faster depends on how long one of each takes you. Schematics fuse five-to-one, so a lower tier with better odds can beat the top tier outright. Counts are containers of that source, not time.

Step up from here and you get Combat SMG at 907 attack; step down and it is Assault Rifle at 512. Weigh the jump against what the next tier costs you before committing the resources.
