Assault Rifle Ammo

Ammo · ConsumeBullet0

Rounds that chamber in the Assault Rifle and guns of the same class, made on a Weapon Assembly Line.

It feeds no other recipe, which makes it a terminal item: craft what you will actually carry and stop there.

Assault Rifle Ammo Crafting Recipe

Yields20
What it really costs, once every sub-recipe is expanded
Work: 40000

Crafting it takes 3 materials across 2 types, and the bottleneck is almost always the 2× requirement — line that up first and the rest follows. Each craft returns 20, so the real cost per unit is lower than the list suggests.

Where to Find Assault Rifle Ammo

If you would rather just buy it, the cheapest seller is Caravan Shop at 90 Gold, and 3 other shops stock it too.

It also shows up as world loot — junk hauls while fishing in the Snowfields, crates on the oil rigs and treasure chests in the Sakurajima, and 3 more pools besides, usually 5–10 at a time. Higher-grade chests carry the better rolls, so the ones guarded by a camp are usually worth the detour.

Chests inside Cherry Blossom Cave can hold it as well.

Using Assault Rifle Ammo Well

The recipe is not free with the assembly line — it sits behind its own technology at level 45, and that costs a single technology point. Below 45 the only rounds you have are the ones you bought or looted, so a rifle picked up early runs dry unless you keep the merchants below on your route.

Do not assume the stockpile follows you up the weapon tiers. The two heavier guns in the class take their own rounds — the Heavy Assault Rifle runs on Heavy Assault Rifle Ammo (level 70, 2 Soralite Ingot and 10 Gunpowder a batch) and the Plasma Rifle on Plasma Rifle Ammo (level 78, Paloxite and Soralite Ingot plus a Bio Battery). Neither will touch a crate of these. What this ammo does cover is wider than the name suggests: the Semi-Auto Rifle feeds from the same box, so one Gunpowder line supplies both your spray weapon and your long-range shots.

Do the arithmetic before you commit a base to this. A craft turns 2 Gunpowder and 1 Refined Ingot into 20 rounds — exactly one magazine for a common Assault Rifle, two thirds of a magazine on the top-rarity one at 30, and a little under two loads for the 12-round Semi-Auto Rifle. Sustained rifle use is a Gunpowder line running constantly, not an occasional batch, which is why the oil rig crates matter out of proportion to their 14.3%: 100–200 rounds in one pull beats an evening at the assembly line.
