Using Fire Arrow Well
Fire arrows drop straight into the whole starter bow family — Old Bow, Recurve Bow, Three Shot Bow, Five Shot Bow and the Crossbow all load them in place of plain Arrow. The catch is the upgrade path: Compound Bow takes reinforced arrows, Advanced Bow takes advanced arrows and Mechanical Bow takes its own mechanical ammo, so the moment you retire the crossbow your fire arrow stack has nothing left that can fire it. Do not stockpile hundreds ahead of a bow upgrade.
Wood and stone are never what limits you — Flame Organ is, at one per batch of ten. A single Blazamut (Blazamut) hands over a flat 10 organs, which is 100 arrows from one kill; Suzaku gives 5-10 and Ragnahawk (Ragnahawk) 5-7. Before you can fight any of those, the cheap early runs are Rooby (Rooby), Flambelle (Flambelle) and Arsox (Arsox) at 2-3 apiece, so roughly four small fire Pals cover a full 100-arrow session.
A batch of ten carries four times the crafting work of a plain arrow batch, so a bench staffed by one low-Handiwork Pal will still be grinding through the order long after the same queue of normal arrows would have cleared. Set fire arrows going before you head out rather than expecting to top up between fights.
