Rocket Launcher

Weapon · WeaponRocketLauncher4

Sends a heavy rocket downrange and stays effective at long distances.

Rocket Launcher is 5th of 39 rocket launchers by attack, at 14,000 against the 16,800 of Beam Launcher.

This is where the crafting chain ends — nothing downstream consumes it, so a stockpile earns you nothing.

Where to Find Rocket Launcher

The recipe is not on the Technology tree — it is locked behind a schematic you have to find first. The best single source is crates on the large oil rig at 1.5% per container, and the table below lists every tier and where each one drops.

One Pal in the entire game hands over Rocket Launcher Schematic 4, and it is the hardest one to reach: Jetragon, at 3% per kill. Jetragon has no ordinary wild spawn anywhere — our location index has zero spots for it — so the only Jetragon in the world is the Lv 70 Alpha, and farming the schematic means killing that same boss over and over. The consolation is that the kill is never wasted: 7 to 9 Ancient Civilization Parts and 7 to 9 Precious Dragon Stone drop every single time, and the Legendary build wants exactly 8 of those parts. A 3% roll averages out at roughly 33 attempts, which is somewhere near 260 parts banked by the time the schematic finally shows up.

If you would rather chase crates than the boss, the Sunreach Isle is the better place to open them: its supply drops carry the four schematic tiers at 10.45%, 2.09%, 0.42% and 0.08%, against 8.9%, 1.78%, 0.36% and 0.07% in the Feybreak. Every rung is a clean five times rarer than the one under it, which is the same five-to-one rate the drafting table charges to fuse a tier upward — so no tier is a better deal per crate than any other. Keep every copy you pull, including the tier 1s, and fuse rather than hold out.

Three of the world-loot pools do not stock all four tiers. Crates on the large oil rig carry the tier 4 schematic and none of the three beneath it, which makes the rig the one route that skips the fuse ladder entirely. Treasure map digs start at Schematic 2, so a dig can never be your first copy. Everything else — grade 6 treasure chests in the Feybreak and the Sunreach Isle, grade 5 chests and grade 6 enemy camp loot in the Sunreach Isle — carries all four tiers alike.

Using Rocket Launcher Well

The schematic has to be riding in your inventory when you walk up to the bench; a copy sitting in a base chest never puts the recipe on the menu. Getting it to the bench is the easy part, though — every rarity of this launcher is built on the Weapon Assembly Line II, which unlocks at level 47 for 100 Refined Ingot, 10 Circuit Board, 5 Corrosive Solvent and 5 Bio Battery, and wants 400 power plus a Handiwork Pal. The Technology tree does not hand you the plain Rocket Launcher until level 65 for 5 points, and the schematic supplies the recipe by itself, so a lucky drop can put the Legendary in your hands eighteen levels before research would have given you the ordinary one.

Know what a schematic is actually buying before you spend one. The Technology version costs 75 Coralum Ingot, 30 Polymer, 25 Carbon Fiber and 10 Computer for 300,000 work, and it is the only rarity in the family that asks for no Ancient Civilization Parts at all — every schematic tier does, starting at 5 for Schematic 1 and climbing a part per rung to the 8 here. The ladder from there runs 93/37/31/12 plus 5 parts, then 112/45/37/15 plus 6, then 131/52/43/17 plus 7, then this build, with the work doubling at every step: 1,200,000, 2,400,000, 4,800,000, 9,600,000. Attack barely moves across all that — 10,000, 11,000, 12,000, 13,000, 14,000, a 40% gain for 32 times the bench time — so what you are really buying is durability, which goes 300, 800, 1,000, 1,200, 1,400. The first rung is the one worth taking: Schematic 1 alone more than doubles the gun's life for a quarter of the top tier's labour. If you only want something that fires, the plain Technology build is the one you can churn out endlessly, because the parts bottleneck never touches it.

Budget for the ammo before you budget for the gun. Rocket Ammo is listed as 3 Hexolite and 1 Thermal Core for ten rounds, but neither is something you mine: each Hexolite is a Chromite plus a Hexolite Quartz at a Gigantic Furnace, and a Thermal Core is 4 Flame Organ, 8 Coal, 2 Corrosive Solvent and 2 more Hexolite at a Production Assembly Line II. Ten rockets therefore really cost 5 Chromite, 5 Hexolite Quartz, 4 Flame Organ, 8 Coal, 2 Venom and 2 Sulfur, and about 3,080,000 work spread over four benches — the furnace, both Production Assembly Lines and the weapon bench itself. Against the 9,600,000 work of the weapon itself, roughly thirty rockets fired equals the labour of building another launcher — and with a magazine of 1, every one of those rockets is a full reload.

Pair the launcher with a Pal that knows Crystal Breath and the explosion stops being about damage at all. A target locked in ice takes the blast as a shove: it goes up, and the landing is what actually kills it, so the rocket only has to connect before the ice breaks. Freeze, fire, let it fall, freeze again — terrain decides how much the drop is worth, which is why one cycle rarely finishes the job and you should plan on several. Two things are outside it: an Ice Pal cannot be frozen in the first place, so it only ever eats the 14,000 attack, and Tower bosses stay planted and take the hit like any other shot. Note the rhythm cost as well, since a magazine of 1 means every single attempt in the loop is a full reload.

Crystal Breath is not rare and not an egg-only move: 33 Pals learn it from their own level-up list, so any of them can be caught and brought along without breeding for it. Elgrove Cryst and Moldron Cryst have it earliest, at Pal level 7, and Bastigor, Beakon Cryst, Munchill and Smokie Cryst follow at 15. The catch for the freeze combo is that most of that roster is Ice-type, and an Ice Pal on your side is fine — it is the target that has to be freezable. If you want a partner that also threatens things ice cannot touch, only three learners sit outside the element: Daedream, Lyleen Noct and Suzaku Aqua, all at level 22. Daedream is the cheap one to organise, a common early Pal you can have banked long before the launcher exists.

At 14,000 attack this ties the plain Beam Launcher and is beaten only by the four upgraded Beam Launchers, which top out at 16,800. What separates them is what they are made of: the Beam Launcher family runs on Paloxite Ingot, AI Core and Ancient Civilization Core, while this gun asks for Coralum Ingot, Polymer, Carbon Fiber, Computer and 8 Ancient Civilization Parts — nothing from the World Tree. The trade is staying power, since the Beam Launcher carries 3,500 durability at the same attack against this one's 1,400. The Plasma Cannon is the closer comparison in practice and loses it: 13,000 attack for 96,000,000 work, ten times the bench time of this launcher's 9,600,000, with a magazine of 2 as the only thing it wins on.

Every Tier of Rocket Launcher

The same piece exists at 5 rarities, and the gap is not cosmetic: attack runs 10000 to 14000, a 1.4x swing. Which one you end up with is decided by the rarity of the schematic you built from, not by the recipe — so a legendary copy of this is worth more than the next item up built from a common one.

Rocket Launcher fires Rocket Ammo, and nothing else — running dry mid-fight is the usual way this weapon lets you down, so keep the recipe unlocked before you rely on it.

Schematics That Unlock Rocket Launcher

The Technology tree hands you the plain Rocket Launcher at level 65 for 5 Technology points, but nothing above that base version — the rarer builds are schematic-only. One schematic grants the recipe, and they are world loot — chests, boss Pals and the late-game pools — rather than anything you research. Higher-rarity copies of the same schematic raise the quality of what you end up crafting.

Fastest route. Two routes to the top-tier Rocket Launcher schematic, and they are not measured in the same thing: about 33 kills hunting it directly from jetragon (alpha), or roughly 449 containers farming the 3★ copy from treasure map digs (tier 5) and fusing five. Which is faster depends on how long one of each takes you. Schematics fuse five-to-one, so a lower tier with better odds can beat the top tier outright. Counts are containers of that source, not time.

Alternatives and Upgrades

Step up from here and you get Beam Launcher at 14,700 attack; step down and it is Beam Launcher at 14,000. How far apart those two sit tells you whether to spend now or keep what you have.
