Wearing it also carries the effects Pal Defense Up Lv. 4, Pal Water Damage Enhancement Lv. 4, which matters more than the raw numbers in the biomes that punish you for the wrong outfit.
This is where the crafting chain ends — nothing downstream consumes it, so a stockpile earns you nothing.

Where to Find Neptilius's Talisman
The recipe is not on the Technology tree — it is locked behind a schematic you have to find first. The best single source is treasure chests in the Sunreach Isle at 2.4% per container, and the table below lists every tier and where each one drops.
The recipe is not a technology you can research — nothing on the tech tree unlocks it. You have to find Neptilius's Talisman Schematic first, and it only turns up in Grade 5 treasure chests: the two Sky Island chest pools and the large oil rig. Farm those runs, not your tech points.
Using Neptilius's Talisman Well
Both of its effects sit at rank 4 — Pal Defense Up Lv. 4 and Water Boost Lv. 4 — which is the top rung for either passive. The Water Support Whistle line stops at Water Boost Lv. 3 no matter how far you upgrade it, so the talisman is a full rank above the whistle and not a sidegrade to it.
It needs 150,000 work to assemble, against 200,000 for the attack-side batons. With the same crafting Pals on the bench that makes the talisman the quicker of the two ancient partner accessories to actually finish.
Three accessories carry Water Boost Lv. 4, so pick by the second passive rather than by the element. This one adds Pal Defense Lv. 4, Faleris Aqua Ring swaps that for Fire resistance Lv. 4, and Lord of the Sea's Baton trades it for Pal Attack Lv. 4. Take the talisman when your partner keeps dying mid-fight; take the baton when it survives fine and you want the kill faster.

Schematics fuse five-to-one, so a lower tier with better odds can beat the top tier outright. Counts are containers of that source, not time.
