Semi-Auto Shotgun

Weapon · WeaponShotgun0

Cycles shells quickly and hits enormously hard — its point-blank damage is about as good as it gets.

Semi-Auto Shotgun is an early shotgun: 39th of 40 by attack, so treat it as a stepping stone, at 195 against the 1,400 of Prototype Shotgun.

It feeds no other recipe, which makes it a terminal item: craft what you will actually carry and stop there.

At 20 weight each it eats carry capacity fast, so bring a mount or park a chest nearby. At 79,200 gold it is worth real money to a merchant.

Semi-Auto Shotgun Crafting Recipe

What it really costs, once every sub-recipe is expanded
Work: 150000

Crafting it takes 80 materials across 3 types, and the bottleneck is almost always the 50× requirement — line that up first and the rest follows.

Where to Find Semi-Auto Shotgun

Semi-Auto Shotgun is not something you find lying around — you craft it, and the recipe is below.

The rarity you craft is decided by which schematic is sitting in your bag: Schematic 1 gives the Uncommon build, 2 the Rare, 3 the Epic and 4 the Legendary. Every one of those recipes is gated behind Weapon Assembly Line II — even the Uncommon step — so the plain tech-tree bench will not do. Standing that bench up costs 100 Refined Ingot, 10 Circuit Board, 5 Corrosive Solvent and 5 Bio Battery, and it draws 400 power once it is running.

All four tiers share the same core pools — chests in the Snowfields, fishing the Snowfields, and the boss stashes and loot piles of Snowfields and Sakurajima camps — but the ends of the ladder differ. Treasure map digs only start paying out at Schematic 2, and the crates on the large oil rig carry the Legendary schematic and nothing below it, which makes the rig the one place worth going specifically for tier 4.

No Pal in the game drops a Semi-Auto Shotgun schematic, at any tier. There is no boss to farm here the way there is for some other legendary weapons, so chests, camps, digs and supply drops are the whole of it.

Using Semi-Auto Shotgun Well

Five of any tier fuse into one of the next, so a Legendary costs 5 Schematic 3, 25 Schematic 2 or 125 Schematic 1. That last number is worth holding against the Mount Obsidian supply drops, which roll Schematic 1 at 8.43% and Schematic 4 at 0.07%: 125 of the common roll works out to roughly the same number of crates as waiting for the rare one. Neither route is a shortcut, so keep whatever tier you find rather than farming for a particular one.

Every Tier of Semi-Auto Shotgun

The same piece exists at 5 rarities, and the gap is not cosmetic: attack runs 195 to 282, a 1.4x swing. Which one you end up with is decided by the rarity of the schematic you built from, not by the recipe — so a legendary copy of this is worth more than the next item up built from a common one.

Ammunition Semi-Auto Shotgun Uses

Semi-Auto Shotgun fires Shotgun Shell, and nothing else — running dry mid-fight is the usual way this weapon lets you down, so keep the recipe unlocked before you rely on it.

Alternatives and Upgrades

Step up from here and you get Semi-Auto Shotgun at 214 attack; step down and it is Double-Barreled Shotgun at 190. The size of that step is what decides whether the crafting bill is justified yet.
