Where to Find Polapup Saddle
Polapup Saddle is not something you find lying around — you craft it, and the recipe is below.
Nothing drops this and no chest holds it — it is a Technology entry, and the build happens at a Pal Gear Workbench rather than an ordinary workbench, which is the first thing to check when the recipe refuses to appear. Four of the five lines are things a level-26 player is already sitting on: 30 Leather, 60 Fiber, 30 Copper Ingot and 30 Paldium Fragment. The fifth, 6 Ice Organ, is the only errand, and the Pal pays for its own saddle — Ice Organ is the single thing Polapup drops, 1 to 3 of it at a flat 100%, so two to six kills in the snowfield you are already standing in covers the bill. Foxcicle, Reindrix and Wumpo each pay 2 to 3 up there as well; 31 Pals drop it in all, and Frostallion is the outlier at a guaranteed 10, though nothing about this build justifies going after one. Level 26 is a crowded rung — nine entries open at once and want 21 points between them — and the one competing directly for these 3 is the Fenglope Saddle.
Using Polapup Saddle Well
The saddle switches on two separate things, and both are dead without it in your inventory. The first is a snow-only movement bonus: +80% uncondensed, then 100, 120, 140 and 160% as you condense. The scope is mounted-on-snow and nothing else, so a Polapup filling a base Cooling slot or trailing you as a party member contributes no speed to anything, itself included. The second is the slide, and it is a thing you trigger rather than a passive — on downhill ground the distance it covers climbs 250, 500, 750, 1,000 and 1,250 across those same five ranks. That is a fivefold gain against the speed bonus's doubling, so a Polapup you intend to condense is worth condensing for the slide, not for the percentage.
Do not build this expecting transport. Polapup's ride sprint is 375, the joint-lowest of the 115 rideable Pals we hold — tied only with Polapup Terra — against a median of 1,050 for ground mounts, and its 120 stamina sits below the middle of that table too. Take the snow percentage at face value against that figure and a four-star Polapup on snow lands near 975, still short of what a Direhowl does on bare grass wearing a saddle you could have unlocked at level 9. The Fenglope Saddle opens at this exact level for these exact 3 points and puts you on 1,050 sprint with 140 stamina, for a bill 30 Fiber and 10 Copper Ingot lighter than this one — it wants 20 Cloth and 10 more Paldium Fragment instead, and 40,000 work against 30,000. Build the Polapup Saddle for the slide and for a Cooling 4 body you can ride between ice-region camps, not because it will get you anywhere quickly. The level-55 Polapup Terra Saddle is not the upgrade path either: it runs the identical snow ladder and the same ride sprint, and buys only 50 more slide distance at each rank.
The saddle does nothing until you own the Pal, and Polapup is one of the easier catches on the list: 242 spawn points, no alpha to hunt, and the clock is irrelevant — the same 242 are live by day and by night, so there is no waiting for dark. They sit in five roughly equal snow pockets at about 11% each — Feybreak Shipwreck, The Oculus Gate with the tower in sight, Azure Cliffs, Amethyst Outcrop and the Isle of the Glacial Core — with Silent Lake, Frostbound Mountains Summit, Exile's Cape and Shady Mushroom Cliffs holding roughly 7% apiece. Breeding is a waste of a pen here: 245 different pairings land on Polapup, which is another way of saying you will hatch one by accident long before you would ever set out to. Take warm armour and the Ice Organ trip and the catching trip are the same trip.
Polapup Saddle — Polapup's Gear
Polapup Saddle is Polapup's own gear — no other Pal can equip it, and Polapup cannot be ridden or put to work in its geared role until you have this in your inventory.
Equipping it turns on Polapup's partner skill, Rider of the Snowy Mountain.
Polapup is Ice / Water, which is what decides where it is worth taking — the gear does not change its typing, only what you can do with it.
