Where to Find Fenglope Lux Saddle
Fenglope Lux Saddle is not something you find lying around — you craft it, and the recipe is below.
The recipe is a Technology unlock at level 57 for 3 points — 31 levels past the plain Fenglope Saddle, which sits at level 26 for the same 3 points. The two saddles are the same object with a different bill: Copper Ingot and ordinary Cloth on the base version, Electric Organ x20 and High Quality Cloth x10 here. High Quality Cloth is the part worth planning for, since each one is 10 Wool and a Leather of its own — 100 Wool for the ten this saddle wants, so a Ranch full of Lamball or Melpaca should be running well before you hit the level.
Using Fenglope Lux Saddle Well
Only half of Stormcloud is behind this saddle. The saddle buys the ride, and with it a mid-air double jump you can use while mounted — Fenglope Lux is one of eight rideable Pals in the game that can do it, alongside Necromus, Rayhound and Rayhound Cryst, Fenglope, Tarantriss, Eikthyrdeer and Eikthyrdeer Terra. The other half runs off the party slot with no gear at all: while Fenglope Lux is in your party, Water Pals drop 40% more items when defeated at partner skill rank 1, rising to 50, 60, 70 and 80% at ranks 2 through 5. It does not stack, so a second Fenglope Lux in the party adds nothing.
Nothing else in the game boosts Water drops. Every element has a Pal that multiplies its loot — Blazehowl for Grass, Menasting for Electric, Cryolinx and Faleris for Ice, Katress for Neutral — and Fenglope Lux is the sole entry on the Water line, so there is no substitute team slot to fall back on. The obvious target is Aquatic Pal Fluids, which 30 Water Pals drop and which a Kelpsea Ranch otherwise trickles out one at a time; High Quality Pal Oil is the other one worth the trip, coming off Relaxaurus at up to 4 a kill and Elphidran Aqua at 3.
Do not spend the Electric Organs expecting a faster mount. Fenglope Lux runs 750 and sprints 1050 on 140 stamina — figure for figure the same as the plain Fenglope you could already ride at level 26, and 35th of the 77 rideable ground Pals. The ride speed bonus in the skill description does not help either at first: partner skill rank 1 grants none of it, and ranks 2 through 5 add only 10, 12, 15 and 20%, so a maxed partner skill puts the sprint near 1260 against the 1800 to 1900 the Paladius and Necromus tier already runs flat. Craft this to carry the Water drop bonus into a farm run and to keep the double jump under you while you do it, not to replace whatever you currently ride between bases.
Fenglope Lux Saddle — Fenglope Lux's Gear
Fenglope Lux Saddle is Fenglope Lux's own gear — no other Pal can equip it, and Fenglope Lux cannot be ridden or put to work in its geared role until you have this in your inventory.
Equipping it turns on Fenglope Lux's partner skill, Stormcloud.
Fenglope Lux is Electric, which is what decides where it is worth taking — the gear does not change its typing, only what you can do with it.
