Pelt Armor
Armor · ArmorBody4★Built from Leather, with better insulation and better protection than the plain version.
Pelt Armor is an early body armour: 122nd of 145 by defense, so treat it as a stepping stone, at 56 against the 1,092 of Cold-Resistant Ancient Armor.
Wearing it also carries the effects Cold Resistance Lv. 1, Attack Up (S) Lv. 4, which matters more than the raw numbers in the biomes that punish you for the wrong outfit.
This is where the crafting chain ends — nothing downstream consumes it, so a stockpile earns you nothing.
Details
At 10 weight each it eats carry capacity fast, so bring a mount or park a chest nearby. At 12,140 gold it is worth real money to a merchant.

Where to Find Pelt Armor
The recipe is not on the Technology tree — it is locked behind a schematic you have to find first. The best single source is treasure map digs (tier 1) at 0.5% per container, and the table below lists every tier and where each one drops.
The best single container for the Legendary schematic is a tier 1 treasure map dig at 0.513%, more than double the 0.24% a Grasslands camp loot pile rolls, and you never have to buy or fish for the maps. An enemy camp boss stash in the Grasslands hands one over 40% of the time and a Forest one 35%, so the camps you were already clearing for the ladder pay for the digs as well.
Priced in Legendary-equivalents, that second payout changes what a camp is worth. A tier 1 dig pays this family's Rare copy at 3.205%, Epic at 1.282% and Legendary at 0.513% — it skips the Uncommon rung entirely — and five of any rung fuse into the one above, so a single dig averages about 0.90% of a Legendary against the 0.96% a camp loot pile is worth. The boss stash sits in the same camp as that loot pile, which makes a full clear worth roughly a third again more than counting loot containers alone suggests.
Forest camps are still on this armour's supply line even though their loot piles never stock a Pelt Armor schematic — only the Grasslands pool carries this family. Their boss stashes turn up the tier 1 map at 35%, and a dig pays the same table no matter which region's camp gave you the map, so leaving the starting region does not cost you the route.
Using Pelt Armor Well
The technology this armour hangs off is a level 12 purchase costing 2 points, the cheapest of the three Pelt branches — the heat-resistant version wants level 16 and 3 points, the cold-resistant one level 18 and 3. That ordering is why the plain line is the one worth hunting schematics for early: its upgraded rungs are craftable a full six levels before the cold branch even opens.
Warmth does not scale with the schematic rung. Every copy of the plain line, from the base crafted version up to this Legendary one, carries the same Lv.1 cold rating — identical to what a starting Cloth Outfit gives you. Only the Cold Resistant branch reaches Lv.2, so a Legendary copy of this armour is a defence upgrade and nothing more; it will not by itself let you stand out in the ice region after dark.
Once that level 18 branch is open, this rung stops being your best chest piece even against the cold branch's cheapest copies: the Uncommon Cold Resistant Pelt Armor already reads 58 defence against this one's 56, and the Legendary cold copy is a clean superset — 72 defence, 2400 durability and an ice damage cut on top, at the same 10 weight and same 224 HP. All it asks is 10 more Leather and 8 Ice Organs in place of the 40 Fiber, plus double the crafting work.
Every Tier of Pelt Armor
The same piece exists at 5 rarities, and the gap is not cosmetic: defense runs 35 to 56, a 1.6x swing. Which one you end up with is decided by the rarity of the schematic you built from, not by the recipe — so a legendary copy of this is worth more than the next item up built from a common one.
| Rarity | Item | Defense | HP | Durability |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 0★ | Pelt Armor | 35 | 140 | 300 |
| 1★ | Pelt Armor | 45 | 182 | 800 |
| 2★ | Pelt Armor | 49 | 196 | 1000 |
| 3★ | Pelt Armor | 52 | 210 | 1200 |
| 4★ | Pelt Armor (this one) | 56 | 224 | 1400 |
What Pelt Armor Does
Pelt Armor grants Cold Resistance Lv. 1: Temperature Resist Cold +1.
Pelt Armor grants Attack Up (S) Lv. 4: Shot Attack +12.
Schematics That Unlock Pelt Armor
The Technology tree hands you the plain Pelt Armor at level 12 for 2 Technology points, but nothing above that base version — the rarer builds are schematic-only. One schematic grants the recipe, and they are world loot — chests, boss Pals and the late-game pools — rather than anything you research. Higher-rarity copies of the same schematic raise the quality of what you end up crafting.
Fastest route. The fastest route is enemy camp loot in the Grasslands, and the reason is the ladder rather than the top rung: that pool stocks every tier, so the common copies it hands you fuse upward into the one you want. Counting them, a top-tier Pelt Armor schematic works out at roughly 104 containers against the 195 the 4★ drop rate alone suggests. Spare low tiers are progress, not clutter. Schematics fuse five-to-one, so a lower tier with better odds can beat the top tier outright. Counts are containers of that source, not time.
| Schematic | Rarity | Where it comes from |

| 4★ | Treasure map digs (tier 1), Grasslands camp loot, Grasslands sea base camp loot +5 more — best 0.5% (grade 2/3/4/5) · Supply drops in the Grasslands (0.09%) |
Alternatives and Upgrades
Step up from here and you get Heat Resistant Pelt Armor at 58 defense; step down and it is Pelt Armor at 52. How far apart those two sit tells you whether to spend now or keep what you have.
