Cold Resistant Pelt Armor

Armor · ArmorBody4

Cold Resistant Pelt Armor is an early body armour: 113th of 145 by defense, so treat it as a stepping stone, at 72 against the 1,092 of Cold-Resistant Ancient Armor.

Wearing it also carries the effects Cold Resistance Lv. 2, Ice Damage Reduction Lv. 1, Attack Up (S) Lv. 4, which matters more than the raw numbers in the biomes that punish you for the wrong outfit.

Nothing is crafted from it — it is an end product, so anything you make is meant to be used rather than banked as a component.

At 10 weight each it eats carry capacity fast, so bring a mount or park a chest nearby. At 17,040 gold it is worth real money to a merchant.

Where to Find Cold Resistant Pelt Armor

Cold Resistant Pelt Armor is not something you find lying around — you craft it, and the recipe is below.

You cannot craft this version until the Legendary schematic is in your bag, and hunting that one copy directly is the slow way round. Grasslands supply drops carry all four tiers — 5.72% Uncommon, 1.14% Rare, 0.23% Epic, 0.05% Legendary — and five of any tier fuse into one of the tier above. Divide each rate by how many crates it takes to climb and the three cheap tiers are each worth about 0.046% of a Legendary per drop, near enough what the Legendary rolls at by itself. Hoard every copy and one Grasslands crate is worth roughly four times what it is worth to a player who only stops for the top roll.

For chests rather than crates, Mountain Stream Grotto is the run that fits this armour's own timing: its treasure chests can turn the schematic up, and with enemies at level 20 to 23 and bosses at 27 to 29 it is clearable not long after the recipe itself unlocks at level 18. The small oil rig crates hold it too, but that is level-30 territory and a much harder trip for the same roll.

Tier 1 treasure maps, the ones enemy settlements hand over, are a route worth knowing because of what they exclude: the dig sites pay out the Rare, Epic and Legendary schematics and never the Uncommon. Every map you cash in is a roll on the half of the ladder you actually want, unlike supply drops where the common tier soaks up most of the odds.

Using Cold Resistant Pelt Armor Well

Ice Organ ×8 is the only ingredient that is specific to the cold version, and there is no reason to hunt ice Pals for it. A Foxcicle or a Mau Cryst parked on a Ranch produces it while you do something else, three shops — Caravan, Desert and Dungeon — sell it at 300 gold apiece, so buying the whole craft outright costs 2,400 gold against a finished piece worth 17,040, and a single Very Hard run of the PAL Genetic Research Laboratory expedition brings back 10 to 20 in two hours.

No new building is needed. The High-Quality Workbench sits at Technology 11, seven levels below the armour's own unlock at 18, and it takes the Legendary recipe exactly as it takes the plain one — the Ancient Civilization Part is a material here, not a gate, so the Ancient Workbench at Technology 67 never enters into it. What does change is work: 320,000 against 10,000 for the base craft, thirty-two times the labour. Queue it on whichever line your Handiwork crew already stands beside and walk away.

The tier ladder does not buy you a colder climate. Cold Resistance stays at Lv. 2 on all five versions, and the Tundra Outfit hands you that same Lv. 2 from Technology 9 onward, so the Legendary lets you stand in exactly the ground a level-9 shirt does. What the schematic actually pays for is the fight: 72 defence against 45, 224 HP against 140, four times the durability, and up to +12 Shot Attack from the Attack Up (S) passive the base craft has no room for. The flat 15% ice damage reduction rides along on every tier regardless.

Weigh the schematic against the calendar before you spend it. Cold Resistant Metal Armor unlocks at Technology 27 and its plain, no-schematic craft already sits at 105 defence — half again what a Legendary pelt gives you — while keeping Cold Resistance Lv. 2 and adding heat resistance on top. That leaves this armour a working window of roughly nine levels. If you are close to 27 already, the pile of lower-tier schematics is better saved for a line you will still be wearing at 40.

Schematics That Unlock Cold Resistant Pelt Armor

Cold Resistant Pelt Armor is not learned from the Technology tree — you need a schematic for it. One schematic grants the recipe, and they are world loot — chests, boss Pals and the late-game pools — rather than anything you research. Higher-rarity copies of the same schematic raise the quality of what you end up crafting.

Alternatives and Upgrades

Step up from here and you get Metal Armor at 91 defense; step down and it is Heat Resistant Pelt Armor at 72. That gap is the honest measure of whether an upgrade is worth the materials right now.
