Heat Resistant Metal Armor

Armor · ArmorBody4

Metal Armor reworked to hold strong heat resistance.

Heat Resistant Metal Armor is 99th of 145 body armours by defense, at 168 against the 1,092 of Cold-Resistant Ancient Armor.

Wearing it also carries the effects Heat Resistance Lv. 2, Cold Resistance Lv. 1, Fire Damage Reduction Lv. 1, Attack Up (S) Lv. 4, which matters more than the raw numbers in the biomes that punish you for the wrong outfit.

This is where the crafting chain ends — nothing downstream consumes it, so a stockpile earns you nothing.

At 30 weight each it eats carry capacity fast, so bring a mount or park a chest nearby. At 46,660 gold it is worth real money to a merchant.

Where to Find Heat Resistant Metal Armor

The recipe is not on the Technology tree — it is locked behind a schematic you have to find first. The best single source is treasure map digs (tier 1) at 0.3% per container, and the table below lists every tier and where each one drops.

Level 25 and 2 technology points buy the plain version only (Heat Resistant Metal Armor); the four rarities above it cost no further points and are gated purely on finding the matching schematic. For this copy that is Heat Resistant Metal Armor Schematic 4, and the odds are thin everywhere: tier 1 treasure map digs are the best line at roughly 0.26% per dig, then loot around Forest enemy camps at about 0.17% and Mount Obsidian camps at 0.12%. Grade 4 chests in the Volcanic Cavern and the Cavern of the Dunes sit near 0.04%, so a deliberate farm means treasure maps or camp clears, not cavern runs.

Using Heat Resistant Metal Armor Well

Three effects sit on the chest piece and the item text mentions none of them: Heat Resistance Lv. 2, Cold Resistance Lv. 1, and Fire Damage Reduction Lv. 1, which is a flat 15% off every point of Fire damage that reaches you. The cold line is the part players miss — it is only the bottom rung, so it will not carry you into the frozen north, but it does mean this set no longer has to come off when the sun goes down in the desert or when the temperature drops overnight around a mid-game base. For the ice regions proper you still want the other half of the pair, Cold Resistant Metal Armor.

The Legendary copy carries a fourth passive the plain craft does not: Shot Attack +12%. It scales with the paper, not with the tier of armour — +3% on the Uncommon schematic, +6% on Rare, +9% on Epic, +12% here, and nothing at all on the version the technology tree hands you. That is a straight ranged damage multiplier on every rifle, handgun and shotgun shot you fire, so for a gun build the Legendary schematic is worth chasing for the offence as much as for the 63 extra defence and the 4x durability over the plain craft. Melee swings and your Pal's damage see none of it.

Every Tier of Heat Resistant Metal Armor

The same piece exists at 5 rarities, and the gap is not cosmetic: defense runs 105 to 168, a 1.6x swing. Which one you end up with is decided by the rarity of the schematic you built from, not by the recipe — so a legendary copy of this is worth more than the next item up built from a common one.

What Heat Resistant Metal Armor Does

Heat Resistant Metal Armor grants Heat Resistance Lv. 2: Temperature Resist Heat +2.

Heat Resistant Metal Armor grants Fire Damage Reduction Lv. 1: Element Resist Fire +15.

Heat Resistant Metal Armor grants Attack Up (S) Lv. 4: Shot Attack +12.

Schematics That Unlock Heat Resistant Metal Armor

The Technology tree hands you the plain Heat Resistant Metal Armor at level 25 for 2 Technology points, but nothing above that base version — the rarer builds are schematic-only. One schematic grants the recipe, and they are world loot — chests, boss Pals and the late-game pools — rather than anything you research. Higher-rarity copies of the same schematic raise the quality of what you end up crafting.

Fastest route. The fastest route is enemy camp loot in the Forest, and the reason is the ladder rather than the top rung: that pool stocks every tier, so the common copies it hands you fuse upward into the one you want. Counting them, a top-tier Heat Resistant Metal Armor schematic works out at roughly 154 containers against the 391 the 4★ drop rate alone suggests. Spare low tiers are progress, not clutter. Schematics fuse five-to-one, so a lower tier with better odds can beat the top tier outright. Counts are containers of that source, not time.

Alternatives and Upgrades

Cold Resistant Metal Armor matches it exactly at 168 defense — those two differ in what they resist and what they weigh, not in raw defense, so picking between them is a swap rather than an upgrade. The next real step is Heat Resistant Refined Metal Armor at 180; below it is Cold Resistant Metal Armor at 157.
