Faleris
#188Needs Faleris Saddle equipped — without that gear the skill does nothing. It unlocks at Technology level 60 for 3 points, so a Pal caught early can sit unusable for a while.
Once it has prey in sight, it whips up a firestorm that leaves the whole area in ash. Faleris breath happens to smell pleasant.

How to Get Faleris
Faleris is Fire, so a Water attacker takes it down fastest — and a Pal it resists will drag the fight long enough for it to heal or flee.
Wild Faleris spawn between level 76 and 80. That top end fights the sphere much harder, so start low and leave the tougher ones until you need duplicates.
Its capture rate is 1.0, which makes it exactly average, so weaken it properly and throw from behind for the back-strike bonus.
Playing Faleris Well
Its combat kit is finished long before its level cap. Ignis Breath arrives at 22 as a frontal cone, Phoenix Flare at 30 punishes anything queued up in a line, and Ignis Rage at 40 detonates a field on top of Faleris itself. Those three cover the near, far and surrounded cases, so a level-40 Faleris already runs the loadout most players settle on — Raging Flame Wave at 55 is the only upgrade left, and it is a swap for one slot rather than a rebuild. Ignis Rage is the one that matters for base defence, since raiders arrive clustered around the Pal instead of in front of it.
The passive set that everyone converges on is Swift, Runner, Nimble and Legend, and three of those four are bought for the same thing: movement. Swift (+30%), Runner (+20%) and Nimble (+10%) stack with the +15% baked into Legend for about +75% on top of a Pal that already runs at 1000 and sprints at 1400 as a mount. Legend also carries +20% attack and defence, which is why it beats a pure damage passive here — Faleris is a flier you spend most of your time riding, so the speed is not wasted between fights the way a fourth attack roll would be.
Fighting one, bulk beats speed. Penking, Jormuntide and Azurobe all pair a Water typing with enough defence to eat a full Ignis Breath, and all three turn the matchup around on the return swing. Azurobe is the awkward one to be on the wrong side of — Waterwing Dance adds Water damage while it is ridden, so a mounted Azurobe is hitting Faleris for extra on top of the type advantage.
Scorching Predator is an active-slot effect, not a party-wide one: it multiplies what Ice Pals drop only while Faleris is the Pal you have out. Treat it as a farming tool you swap in before the kill rather than a passive bonus you carry — throw the sphere with Faleris deployed, and pull it back afterwards.
The mirror of its own partner skill is the cheapest way to farm it. Penking's Brave Sailor raises the drop count from defeated Fire Pals, so keeping a Penking deployed while you clear Faleris multiplies the Precious Plume and Ancient Civilization Parts an alpha hands over. Penking is Water/Ice, so it is also the type answer to Faleris in the same fight.
Legend cannot be rolled on a caught Faleris and no legendary Pal can be used as a parent for one, so the passive has to walk in on a parent that already carries it. With Faleris x Faleris as the pairing, that means chain-breeding Legend onto a spare Faleris first and then using it as the donor — budget the extra generation before you start rolling for the four-passive set above.
