Where to Find Blazamut Ryu Saddle
Blazamut Ryu Saddle is not something you find lying around — you craft it, and the recipe is below.
Using Blazamut Ryu Saddle Well
Dragon Kaiser runs from the party slot, not from the saddle seat. Once the gear is in your inventory, Blazamut Ryu only has to be one of the five Pals on your belt — you do not have to send it out, and you do not have to be riding it. What it gives is 25% more Dragon damage against anything weak to Dragon, and each rung of condensing pushes that to 27, 30, 34 and finally 40%. The buff is written to cover you and Blazamut Ryu itself, and it is flagged as non-stacking, so a second one in the team is a slot spent for nothing.
Weak to Dragon means Dark, and only Dark — Dragon is the counter to that one element and nothing else, which decides where this saddle is worth carrying. The fights it reads on are the Dark ones: Bellanoir and Bellanoir Libero, Xenolord, Necromus, Shadowbeak, Frostallion Noct, Lyleen Noct and Selyne all take the full bonus. Against a Fire, Ice or Ground target it does nothing at all and you are simply riding an expensive mount. The cheapest way to cash it is to fight with the Pal that grants it: five of Blazamut Ryu's eight learned moves are Dragon — Dragon Burst, Comet Strike, Beam Slicer, Magna Crush and Meteorain — and the skill boosts its own damage as well as yours.
There is no shortcut to owning this early. The technology opens at the same level as the Blazamut Ryu raid itself, and that raid is the only place the Pal comes from — the breeding combo for one asks for two Blazamut Ryu as parents, so you have to win the fight before you can hatch your way to a second. Clear it first, build the saddle after. Eight Pals carry an element-flavoured version of this weak-point boost, all on the identical 25/27/30/34/40 ladder, but only three of them charge you gear for the privilege: this one, Univolt for Electric and Moldron Cryst for Ice. The other five switch it on for free the moment the Pal joins your party.
The 60 Flame Organ is the part of the bill that stalls the build, and the fastest answer is the Pal's own base form. Blazamut drops a flat 10 every kill with no roll involved, the densest Flame Organ source there is, so six runs at the plain version pay for the variant's saddle outright. Suzaku is the only other Pal that can hand over 10, but it rolls 5 to 10, so the same number of kills can leave you half short.
Blazamut Ryu Saddle — Blazamut Ryu's Gear
Blazamut Ryu Saddle is Blazamut Ryu's own gear — no other Pal can equip it, and Blazamut Ryu cannot be ridden or put to work in its geared role until you have this in your inventory.
Equipping it turns on Blazamut Ryu's partner skill, Dragon Kaiser.
Blazamut Ryu is Dragon / Fire, which is what decides where it is worth taking — the gear does not change its typing, only what you can do with it.
