Using Eidrolon Ignis Saddle Well
Flight is the visible half of what this unlocks; the buff is the half nobody mentions. Resentful Pterosaur is keyed to the saddle in the game's own data, so until the item is sitting in your inventory the skill's Ranged Attack and Move Speed ladder does not exist. Both numbers land on Eidrolon Ignis itself, not on you — it shoots harder and moves faster, your own gun is untouched, and so is its melee. The buff also runs the moment the Pal occupies a party slot rather than only while you are in the seat, so it is worth the build even on a Pal you deploy to fight on foot beside you.
Read the 2/3/4/5/6% ladder as a rate, not a total. The figure is multiplied by the number of other Dragon or Fire Pals riding along in your party, so an Eidrolon Ignis carried alone gets nothing at all from its own partner skill. Pack the remaining four slots with Dragon or Fire Pals and an uncondensed one is at 8% Ranged Attack and 8% Move Speed; the same party around a four-star copy reaches 24%. Any Dragon or Fire Pal counts — a Kindling worker you were hauling anyway feeds it just as well as a fighter.
Against the plain Eidrolon Saddle at level 68, this one costs the same 5 points eight levels later and hands you an identical ladder — the only thing that changes is which element fills the party. Liberated Pterosaur counts Dark or Dragon, and that is the wider net of the two: 92 non-boss Pals qualify for it against 64 for Dragon or Fire, so the cheaper saddle is also the easier condition to max out. Both forms sprint at exactly the same speed, so nothing about the ride improves either. What you are actually paying the extra levels and the 20 Flame Organ for is the Pal — Kindling 6 that the Dark form does not have at all, and 130 Ranged Attack against 125 for the buff to multiply.
