Tomato Seeds

Material · MaterialMonster0

Grows into Tomato. Merchants stock them, and a farm needs them to get started.

It is a component in one recipe, so keep a couple spare rather than a stockpile.

Where to Find Tomato Seeds

6 Pals drop Tomato Seeds when defeated or captured, which is usually the faster route if you are already out hunting — the drop list below is sorted by how reliably each one gives it up.

If you would rather just buy it, the cheapest seller is Caravan Shop at 30 Gold, and 2 other shops stock it too.

Vaelet on a Ranch is the hands-off supply. It rolls one of six seed types per drop and tomato carries the heaviest weight — 10 of 45, near 22% — ahead of Wheat Seeds, Potato Seeds, Carrot Seeds, Onion Seeds and Lettuce Seeds in that order. The count per drop climbs with the Vaelet's rank, from 1-2 at rank 1 to 4-11 at rank 10.

Using Tomato Seeds Well

Seeds only pay for the plot itself. The Tomato Plantation unlocks at Technology level 21 for 2 points and is built with 70 Wood, 50 Stone, 5 Aquatic Pal Fluids and 3 Tomato Seeds — after that the plot replants from its own harvest, spending 1 Tomato per cycle rather than a seed. Three seeds is the whole lifetime cost of a plantation, so there is no reason to stockpile them.

A tomato plot runs a 300-second cycle and pays out 10 Tomato each time, with seeding, watering and harvest each demanding 11,000 work. That is heavier than wheat (7,500 per stage) and lighter than lettuce (15,000), so it needs Pals with Planting, Watering and Gathering to keep the cycle from stalling.
