Ominous Egg
Material · MaterialPalEgg1★An egg of unclear origin, carrying the energy of the World Tree. Hatches in an Egg Incubator.
Details
At 10 weight each it eats carry capacity fast, so bring a mount or park a chest nearby. It sells for almost nothing, so do not bother hauling it to a shop.
Where to Find Ominous Egg
Eggs like this come from a Breeding Farm when you pair two Pals, and wild nests hold them too — 1,816 nest sites are marked on the map, though which egg a given nest holds is down to where in the world it sits.
Nothing outside the World Tree produces this shell — no Grasslands, Desert, Snowfield, Sakurajima or Feybreak nest rolls it, no merchant stocks it, and no chest holds one. The region carries 30 Pal Egg nests and each one only turns up Ominous roughly one time in ten, so walking to a single marked spot and finding nothing there is the normal result rather than a bug: the route is the point, not any one nest. A full circuit of all 30 averages about three of these, and each looted nest refills 180 minutes later, which makes two sweeps a play session realistic. The World Tree nest layer on the map has every spot plotted, and the full route breakdown covers the order to run them in.

Using Ominous Egg Well
The only thing to do with it is drop it in an Egg Incubator — it is not a cooking ingredient, a crafting material or a sellable worth carrying at 10 gold. What comes out is drawn from the World Tree pool of 42 Pals at a flat rate each, several of which have no other egg source at all, so these are worth incubating ahead of any ordinary egg sitting in your box. The hatch list has every Pal in the pool with its odds.
Two things gate the farm before the eggs do. You cannot enter the region at all until Panthalus is down — the gate fight is the real entry cost — and once inside, a large share of the nests sit on ledges and root branches with no walking path to them, so a flying mount turns a circuit from impossible into a few minutes. Clear the whole loop in one pass before hatching anything: each egg eats a full inventory slot at 10 weight and cannot stack, so carrying capacity, not nest count, is what usually ends a run early.
