Using Medical Supplies Well
The three medicine grades do not overlap, so stacking the expensive one is not a substitute for the cheap one. Low Grade Medical Supplies is the only cure for Sick, Sprain and Overfull; this tier is the only cure for Ulcer and Fracture; High Grade Medical Supplies is the only cure for Weakened and Depressed. A Pal with a Fracture will sit at reduced output until you hand it this exact item, no matter how many 3,120 Gold bottles are in the chest next to it. Keep a few of each grade in the box by your Palbox rather than one deep stack of any single one.
This is not a Primitive Workbench recipe — it needs the dedicated medicine line, which opens at Technology level 12 with the Medieval Medicine Workbench and is repeated by the Electric Medicine Workbench at 43 and the Advanced Medicine Workbench at 61. Until you take that level 12 node your only supply is merchant stock and chest luck. Each unit is 15,000 work, so it is worth assigning a Pal with the Medicine Production suitability to the bench and letting it run in the background instead of hand-cranking a batch after every base injury.
