Where to Find Yakumo Effigy
Exactly four exist in the world, and the ladder costs exactly four. There is no spare and no farm: every one of them is a fixed placed pickup, so a missed effigy is a rank you cannot buy back. Clear all four before you spend anything at a statue.
Where the four sit, by the nearest fast-travel stone: one on Feybreak barely 30 m from The Oculus Gate, Tower in Sight — close enough to grab on the warp in; one on Sunreach Isle about 300 m out from Farcry Marsh; and two inside the World Tree, the first roughly 250 m from Lacrymal Shoal on the Within the Seal side, the second under 100 m from the Abandoned Laboratory stone.
Using Yakumo Effigy Well
This is the currency for the rainbow-passive upgrade at the Statue of Power, and it is one of the shortest ladders in the game: 4 ranks, one effigy per rank, paying +1% per rank for +4% at the top. The bonus raises the chance that a wild Pal spawns carrying a rainbow-grade passive skill, so it is a catching-quality multiplier rather than a combat stat — turn it on before a long shiny-passive hunt, not before a tower fight.
Half the ladder is locked behind the World Tree. Lunaris and Relaxaurus effigies are the other two four-piece tracks, and both of those sit entirely on the main map — Yakumo is the only one of the three with placements past the tree gate. That caps you at rank 2 until you have beaten Panthalus, so treat the last two ranks as a post-World Tree errand and do not wait on them for an early-game catching run.
Nothing about the pickup marks it as scarce — it uses the same glow and the same prompt as the Lifmunk Effigy, of which there are hundreds. Four world-unique items dressed as the most common collectible in the game is how most players end up short a rank. Full ladder-by-ladder numbers are in the effigy upgrade guide.
