Metal Spear
Weapon · WeaponMelee0★Close-range weapon whose metal head raises its attack power, with enough shaft to strike from outside arm's reach.
Metal Spear is an early melee weapon: 63rd of 79 by attack, so treat it as a stepping stone, at 80 against the 2,400 of Laser Sword.
No recipe takes it as an ingredient. Whatever you build is the finished article, so there is no reason to hoard spares.

At 15 weight each it eats carry capacity fast, so bring a mount or park a chest nearby.
Metal Spear Crafting Recipe
Crafting it takes 49 materials across 3 types.
Where to Find Metal Spear
Metal Spear is not something you find lying around — you craft it, and the recipe is below.
Using Metal Spear Well
The craft job is 10,000 work units, ten times what Stone Spear costs a bench. It is worth putting a high-Handiwork pal on the station before queuing one, and worth queuing a spare in the same sitting rather than coming back for a second run later.
It is the strongest spear you can craft for a long stretch: the technology opens at level 13 and nothing replaces it until Refined Metal Spear at level 34. Twenty-one levels is far enough that the 250 durability will run out more than once, so keep Wood and Stone banked for rebuilds instead of assuming a single one lasts.
The upgrade is almost the same recipe with a better metal — Refined Metal Spear wants Wood x36, Stone x18 and Iron Ingot x10 against this one's Ingot x10, and pays 310 attack for it. Once an iron smelting line is running, stop rebuilding Metal Spears and bank the ore instead; the craft job does jump to 100,000 work units, so start it early on the bench.
Every Tier of Metal Spear
The same piece exists at 3 rarities, and the gap is not cosmetic: attack runs 80 to 35, a 0.4x swing. Which one you end up with is decided by the rarity of the schematic you built from, not by the recipe — so a legendary copy of this is worth more than the next item up built from a common one.
| Rarity | Item | Attack | Durability |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0★ | Metal Spear (this one) | 80 | 250 |
| 0★ | Refined Metal Spear | 310 | 300 |
| 0★ | Stone Spear | 35 | 200 |
Alternatives and Upgrades
Nightglow matches it exactly at 80 attack — those two differ in what they resist and what they weigh, not in raw attack, so picking between them is a swap rather than an upgrade. The next real step is Terraprisma at 90; below it is Axe4 at 75.
