Grappling Gun is not something you find lying around — you craft it, and the recipe is below.
Using Grappling Gun Well
The one awkward line on the recipe is the single Ancient Civilization Parts. Paldium, Ingot and Fiber are all ordinary base-camp stock by level 12, but Ancient Civilization Parts only come off Alpha Pals — and every Alpha drops them, not just tower bosses. A low-level field Alpha such as Rushoar or Gumoss hands over 1-2 at a guaranteed rate, so a single detour on the way to the bench covers the craft with a spare left over.
This is rung one of a five-step ladder, and the 1 Ancient Technology Point spent here is the cheapest entry on the whole ancient tree. The rest arrive at level 17 for Mega Grappling Gun (2 points), 31 for Giga Grappling Gun (3), 49 for Hyper Grappling Gun (4) and 63 for Ultra Grappling Gun (5). Ancient points come from bosses rather than levelling, so budget the ladder as a 15-point commitment if you intend to climb all of it.
At 20,000 work this is the only rung you can sensibly crank out by hand. Mega doubles that to 40,000, Giga asks 100,000, Hyper 500,000 and Ultra a flat 2,000,000 — from the second tier onward the craft is a job for a fully staffed station and high-Handiwork Pals, not for you standing at the bench.
Climbing the ladder does not consume the gun you already own: no higher recipe lists a Grappling Gun as an ingredient, they are all built from raw materials. The plain version keeps working after you craft a Mega, so there is no reason to scrap it — park it in a chest for a co-op partner who has not reached the node yet.
