Using Rushoar Hot Dog Well
The Defense buff is +20% and it runs for 10 minutes from the moment you eat. That is the only reason to cook this — eat it at the base before you set out, or carry a couple and bite one as you walk into a tower arena, not after the fight has already started.
No Cooking Pot recipe. It needs a late kitchen: the Electric Kitchen at Technology level 41, the Large-Scale Stone Oven at 49, or the Ancient Kitchen at 70. The Electric Kitchen will sit dead unless your base is already wired to a generator, so on a fresh save the Stone Oven is often the first station that actually cooks one.
The craft is 32,000 work — ten times what a plain grilled steak costs, and the same as a Pizza. Queue it in bulk and leave good Kindling Pals stationed on the kitchen rather than standing there watching the bar; a lone low-level fire Pal will take most of a day on a single batch.
+20% is not the ceiling for a defense meal. Galeclaw Nikujaga gives +25% over the same 10 minutes, and Carbonara and Eikthyrdeer Stew tie this at +20%. The hot dog wins on cost rather than size: three ingredients off a lettuce plot and a boar, against Nikujaga's four crops plus 70,000 work, or the two milks each of the other two demand. Cook Nikujaga for a boss run, hot dogs for everything else.
