The recipe will not appear on an early cooking bench. Only the Large-Scale Stone Oven (Technology level 49) and the Ancient Kitchen (Technology level 70) accept it, so the Cooking Pot and the Electric Kitchen are both dead ends here. If you want the Defense buff before level 49, buying it from the Caravan Shop is the only route.
