The saddle is a 3-point Technology entry, and the plain Helzephyr Saddle costs those same 3 points 22 levels earlier at 25, so a Helzephyr Lux hatched or caught in the thirties waits a long while on the ground beside a Dark Helzephyr that is already flying. Build it at a Pal Gear Workbench once the entry is unlocked.
Using Helzephyr Lux Saddle Well
Holding the saddle is what switches Wings of Thunder on, and the skill does three things at once while Helzephyr Lux is out: it becomes a flying mount, your own shots convert to the Electric element, and your ranged attack goes up 5%. Condensing lifts that last figure to 7, 10, 14 and 20% at four stars. Only the ranged number moves, so a melee player takes the wings and nothing else from this.
Electric shots hit Water Pals hard and bounce off Ground ones, which is the whole calculation on whether to fly this or something Dark — and Beakon converts your shots exactly the same way, for the same 5-to-20% ranged ladder, from a saddle that opens at level 29. Beakon is also the faster flier at 1200 sprint against 1100. What Helzephyr Lux answers with is endurance and base value: 170 stamina to Beakon's 160, so fewer forced landings on a long crossing, plus Transporting 5 and Generating Electricity 4 when it is off the perch. Spend the 3 points for the hauler that happens to fly, not for the damage line.
