Cold Resistant Plasteel Armor
Armor · ArmorBody4★Plasteel Armor, improved for survival in cold climates.
Cold Resistant Plasteel Armor is 37th of 145 body armours by defense, at 640 against the 1,092 of Cold-Resistant Ancient Armor.
Wearing it also carries the effects Cold Resistance Lv. 2, Heat Resistance Lv. 1, Ice Damage Reduction Lv. 1, Attack Up (S) Lv. 4, which matters more than the raw numbers in the biomes that punish you for the wrong outfit.
Nothing is crafted from it — it is an end product, so anything you make is meant to be used rather than banked as a component.

At 35 weight each it eats carry capacity fast, so bring a mount or park a chest nearby. At 327,600 gold it is worth real money to a merchant.
Cold Resistant Plasteel Armor Crafting Recipe
Crafting it takes 156 materials across 5 types.
Where to Find Cold Resistant Plasteel Armor
The recipe is not on the Technology tree — it is locked behind a schematic you have to find first. The best single source is sea base enemy camp loot in the Sakurajima at 1.1% per container, and the table below lists every tier and where each one drops.
Using Cold Resistant Plasteel Armor Well
The research for this armor line sits at Level 54 and costs 5 Technology Points. Buying it once covers every rarity of the piece — the legendary schematic only decides which tier you may queue, so without the tech nothing in the line shows up in a crafting menu at all.
Nothing in this line can be made by hand. It needs a Production Assembly Line II or one of the benches above it — the Advanced Workshop or the Ancient Workbench.
The build order carries exactly twice the work of the rare tier and thirty-two times the work of the plain common version. It is one of the longest non-Ancient crafts in the game, so staff the line with your best Handiwork Pals before you commit the materials rather than after.
The passive package is Cold Resistance Lv. 2, Heat Resistance Lv. 1 and Ice Damage Reduction Lv. 1. The heat rating is real but small — enough to cross a warm stretch without swapping, not enough for the volcano — and the ice line cuts 15% off incoming Ice-element damage, which pays off against exactly the bosses that live in the snowfields this armor is for.
It out-defends the legendary plain Plasteel Armor — 640 physical defense against 616 — with identical HP, durability and weight. The only extra cost is 20 Cryogenic Coolant and about a third more work. If you are building a legendary Plasteel chest piece at all, this is the one to build, snow trip or not.
Defensively it is a mirror of the legendary Heat Resistant Plasteel Armor — same 640 defense, 1,950 HP and 72,000 durability — so the choice between them is purely which gauge you need capped. This one is the cheaper build of the pair: 20 Cryogenic Coolant against 40 Flame Organs.
This tier grants +12 shot attack, up from +9 on the rare version. Stepping up from rare is a damage gain as well as a defensive one, which is unusual for a chest piece.
Every Tier of Cold Resistant Plasteel Armor
The same piece exists at 5 rarities, and the gap is not cosmetic: defense runs 400 to 640, a 1.6x swing. Which one you end up with is decided by the rarity of the schematic you built from, not by the recipe — so a legendary copy of this is worth more than the next item up built from a common one.
| Rarity | Item | Defense | HP | Durability |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 0★ | Cold Resistant Plasteel Armor | 400 | 1300 | 18000 |

Schematics That Unlock Cold Resistant Plasteel Armor
The Technology tree hands you the plain Cold Resistant Plasteel Armor at level 54 for 5 Technology points, but nothing above that base version — the rarer builds are schematic-only. One schematic grants the recipe, and they are world loot — chests, boss Pals and the late-game pools — rather than anything you research. Higher-rarity copies of the same schematic raise the quality of what you end up crafting.
Fastest route. The fastest route is sea base enemy camp boss stashes in the Sakurajima, and the reason is the ladder rather than the top rung: that pool stocks every tier, so the common copies it hands you fuse upward into the one you want. Counting them, a top-tier Cold Resistant Plasteel Armor schematic works out at roughly 38 containers against the 94 the 4★ drop rate alone suggests. Spare low tiers are progress, not clutter. Schematics fuse five-to-one, so a lower tier with better odds can beat the top tier outright. Counts are containers of that source, not time.
| Schematic | Rarity | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| 4★ | Sakurajima sea base camp loot, Treasure map digs (tier 4), Sakurajima sea base camp stashes +6 more — best 1.1% (grade 5/6) |
Alternatives and Upgrades
Step up from here and you get Lightweight Hexolite Armor at 660 defense; step down and it is Heat Resistant Plasteel Armor at 640. That gap is the honest measure of whether an upgrade is worth the materials right now.
