Defense Pendant

Accessory2

A pendant giving Defense a small lift.

Wearing it also carries the effect Defense Up Lv. 3, which matters more than the raw numbers in the biomes that punish you for the wrong outfit.

It feeds no other recipe, which makes it a terminal item: craft what you will actually carry and stop there.

It does not stack, so every spare copy costs an inventory slot. At 15,540 gold it is worth real money to a merchant.

Where to Find Defense Pendant

The recipe is not on the Technology tree — it is locked behind a schematic you have to find first. The best single source is treasure chests in the Feybreak at 3.4% per container, and the table below lists every tier and where each one drops.

Nothing drops this. No Pal, boss or alpha carries it, and the pendant itself is off every chest table in the game — the only way to hold one is to build it from the recipe on this page. The single thing bearing its name that does appear as loot is the Defense Pendant Schematic (Defense Pendant Schematic), which sits on grade 5 chest tables and nowhere else: 3.45% from treasure chests inside Feybreak Cavern, 1.18% from the crates on the oil rigs, 0.19% from ordinary field chests in Feybreak. That works out to roughly 29 cavern chests, 85 rig crates or 520 field chests per copy, so the cavern run is the only one of the three that repays a deliberate farm.

Using Defense Pendant Well

"Slightly raises Defense" is a bad description of what this does. The pendant carries the third step of the four-rung accessory Defense ladder — a 20% increase to your Defense stat, against 10% for the first rung and 25% for the top one. It is unconditional and it runs the whole time the pendant sits in an accessory slot: no HP threshold, no stance, no element requirement. The line points at you and only you, so a partner Pal out on the field gets nothing from it; the Pal-side Defense boosts are a separate set of passives that only work off a Pal's own equipment.

The real gate is the 2 Ancient Civilization Parts, not the ore. Everything else in the recipe is bulk mining you already do, so the decision is whether 2 parts are better spent here than on a saddle or a tower-tier gun. For a slot you never have to think about again, 20% flat Defense usually wins — it scales with your armour instead of replacing it, and unlike the elemental resistance rings it never becomes dead weight because you walked into the wrong fight.

Skip the schematic unless you collect rarity labels. Holding it in your inventory unlocks a Rare-tier recipe for the same pendant, and every Defense Pendant in the item table — plain and Rare alike — carries the identical 20% Defense line at the identical weight of 2. The rarer paper moves the colour of the frame and the sell price, not your damage taken.

What Defense Pendant Does

Defense Pendant grants Defense Up Lv. 3: Defense +20.

Schematics That Unlock Defense Pendant

Defense Pendant is not learned from the Technology tree — you need a schematic for it. One schematic grants the recipe, and they are world loot — chests, boss Pals and the late-game pools — rather than anything you research. Higher-rarity copies of the same schematic raise the quality of what you end up crafting.

Fastest route. The top-tier Defense Pendant schematic is worth hunting directly — treasure chests in the Feybreak is its best source, at roughly 29 containers a copy. Schematics fuse five-to-one, so a lower tier with better odds can beat the top tier outright. Counts are containers of that source, not time.
