Using Nyafia's Shotgun Well
The half of this gear that matters most costs you nothing to use. Once the shotgun is in your inventory, simply keeping Nyafia in the party raises the damage of the shotgun you are holding by 10% — no button, no cooldown, no need to have her out. The ladder climbs to 15, 20, 25 and 35% as her partner skill rank does, so condensing her is a direct upgrade to your own gun, and the buff does not stack, meaning a second Nyafia in the same team adds nothing. The one condition is the gear itself: the whole skill row is gated on this item, so an uncrafted shotgun means no passive either.
The buff is fussy about what you are holding — it reads the equipped weapon's category and only fires for shotgun-class guns. Nothing carries over to an assault rifle, a bow or a handgun. Of the 682 partner skill entries in the game, hers and her Alpha's are the only two that name shotguns at all, so if you want a percentage on top of a shotgun there is no substitute Pal to fall back on.
The toggled half — Nyafia opening up on nearby enemies herself — runs for ten seconds and then locks out for two full minutes. That is a five-percent uptime, so it is a button for an opening burst or for the moment a boss staggers, not a damage source you plan a fight around. The shots she fires carry a power figure of 50 at partner skill rank 1, rising through 55, 65 and 80 to 100 at rank 5, so condensing pays into both halves of the gear at once. You are also held to the gun you started with — the mode does not allow a weapon swap while it runs.
It is a level 52 technology costing 3 points, and it is built on the Pal Gear Workbench — the same 2-point, technology 6 bench you would have thrown up for your first saddle, since the game never adds an upgraded tier of it. What actually gates the craft is the 30 Polymer and 50 Refined Ingot, both of which want production lines already running by the time this comes up; the 85 Paldium Fragment is the trivial part. The 30 Dark Fragment are narrower than they look: only nine Pals drop the material at all, and Nyafia herself is not one of them — she pays out Leather. Splatterina, Celesdir Noct and Solenne are the best of the nine at 3 per kill on a guaranteed roll, with Kitsun Noct, Starryon and Omascul at 2.
Because the bonus is a percentage, it is worth the most on the biggest shotgun you own, and the spread between shotguns is enormous. Prototype Shotgun sits at 1167 attack before refinement against 508 for Beam Scatter and 220 for Pump-Action Shotgun — pairing a rank 5 Nyafia with a Pump-Action wastes most of what condensing her bought you. If the Prototype Shotgun is out of reach, Beam Scatter and the Energy Shotgun are the next tier worth building around; Makeshift Shotgun and Pump-Action are placeholders you should have replaced well before level 52.

Nyafia's Shotgun is Nyafia's own gear — no other Pal can equip it, and Nyafia cannot be ridden or put to work in its geared role until you have this in your inventory.
Equipping it turns on Nyafia's partner skill, Shot-Nyan Mode.
Nyafia is Dark, which is what decides where it is worth taking — the gear does not change its typing, only what you can do with it.
