Where to Find Ghangler Saddle
Ghangler Saddle is not something you find lying around — you craft it, and the recipe is below.
Using Ghangler Saddle Well
Two things switch on when this is built, and the second one is the reason to build it. The obvious one is that Ghangler becomes a water mount. The other is Master of Darkness, which the game refuses to grant at all until this saddle exists — the skill is written with this item as its unlock condition, so a Ghangler standing beside you without a saddle contributes nothing whatsoever. What the skill does is raise Ghangler's own movement speed by 5% for every other Dark or Water Pal riding in your party, and that figure climbs to 9, 13, 18 and finally 25% as you condense the Pal. It is a per-member multiplier, not a flat bonus: four qualifying party slots turn the bottom rung into +20% and a fully condensed Ghangler into +100%. Ghangler itself is excluded from its own count, but a second Ghangler in the party is Dark and Water and does count — the skill is flagged as stacking across copies of the same tribe. It also only fires while Ghangler is the Pal you have out; leaving it in a reserve slot pays nothing.
The raw speeds explain why the party bonus matters more here than on any other boat. Ghangler sprints across water at 1,350 and cruises at 1,200, which is actually 90 short of Surfent — a mount whose saddle unlocks fifteen levels earlier. Where it wins is the tank: 320 stamina against Surfent's 100, and against the 150 that Jormuntide brings at technology 40. Nothing below technology 64 carries more. So the trade is a slightly lower top speed for roughly three times the distance between rests, and the partner skill erases the deficit anyway — on the ladder's own arithmetic two qualifying party members at the bottom rung already put Ghangler past Surfent, and one at the top rung does it alone. Fill the other four slots with Dark or Water Pals and the boat you built at level 31 outruns things unlocked thirty levels later.
Ghangler will also carry you on land, but at a sprint of 800 it is slower there than almost anything built for the job, so treat this as sea transport and keep a land mount saddled separately. One thing worth knowing before you spend on the follow-up: breeding Ghangler with Sootseer produces Ghangler Ignis, which needs its own saddle at technology 42 and cannot use this one — and the Ignis form travels at exactly the same 1,350 / 1,200 / 800 with the same 320 stamina. That upgrade buys you a Fire typing, a Kindling work slot and a completely different partner skill; it does not buy you a faster boat.
Ghangler Saddle — Ghangler's Gear
Ghangler Saddle is Ghangler's own gear — no other Pal can equip it, and Ghangler cannot be ridden or put to work in its geared role until you have this in your inventory.
Equipping it turns on Ghangler's partner skill, Master of Darkness.
Ghangler is Dark / Water, which is what decides where it is worth taking — the gear does not change its typing, only what you can do with it.
