Hallowed Headgear
Armor · ArmorHead4★[Tides of Terraria] A helmet worked from Hallowed Bar. The divine power running through it raises the damage Nightglow deals.
Hallowed Headgear is 22nd of 202 head pieces by defense, at 182 against the 650 of Ancient Helm.
Wearing it also carries the effect Hallowed Power: Magic, which matters more than the raw numbers in the biomes that punish you for the wrong outfit.
This is where the crafting chain ends — nothing downstream consumes it, so a stockpile earns you nothing.
Details
At 13 weight each it eats carry capacity fast, so bring a mount or park a chest nearby. At 86,400 gold it is worth real money to a merchant.

Where to Find Hallowed Headgear
The recipe is not on the Technology tree — it is locked behind a schematic you have to find first. The best single source is treasure chests in the Yakushima at 0.011% per container, and the table below lists every tier and where each one drops.
Using Hallowed Headgear Well
Combine instead of farming. Five copies of any Hallowed Headgear schematic fuse at the drafting table into one of the next tier up, and each fuse is only 1,000 work. Because the drop weights fall by exactly the factor the fuse ratio climbs, every tier in that chest slot is worth the same amount of progress: five plain schematics equal one one-star, and so on up. Keep all of them and feed the whole ladder rather than holding out for the top roll — running every tier through the combine gets you a four-star in roughly 1,800 chest rolls instead of the ~8,800 a direct drop asks for.
Bar cost is the only thing that scales with the star rating: 20 Hallowed Bar for the plain helmet, then 30, 60, 120, and 240 here. Craft time does not move — all five tiers are 40,000 work — so the four-star version is a smelting problem, not a bench problem. Stock 240 bars before you commit the schematic.
This is the four-star Hallowed Headgear, and the bench will not build it until Hallowed Headgear Schematic 4 is sitting in your bag. That schematic has exactly one source: Yakushima treasure chests. Every star tier of the Hallowed Headgear schematic shares a single slot in that chest pool, weighted five times lower at each step up — the plain schematic is roughly 7% of the slot, then about 1.4%, 0.28%, 0.057%, and this four-star one lands near 0.011%. Waiting on that specific roll is about one chest in nine thousand.
Every Tier of Hallowed Headgear
The same piece exists at 5 rarities, and the gap is not cosmetic: defense runs 140 to 182, a 1.3x swing. Which one you end up with is decided by the rarity of the schematic you built from, not by the recipe — so a legendary copy of this is worth more than the next item up built from a common one.

|---|---|---|---|---|
| 0★ | Hallowed Headgear | 140 | 320 | 4500 |

| 2★ | Hallowed Headgear | 161 | 368 | 7500 |

What Hallowed Headgear Does
Hallowed Headgear grants Hallowed Power: Magic: Damage Up If Equipped Yakushima Magic Weapon +20.
Schematics That Unlock Hallowed Headgear
Hallowed Headgear is not learned from the Technology tree — you need a schematic for it. One schematic grants the recipe, and they are world loot — chests, boss Pals and the late-game pools — rather than anything you research. Higher-rarity copies of the same schematic raise the quality of what you end up crafting.
Fastest route. The fastest route is treasure chests in the Yakushima, and the reason is the ladder rather than the top rung: that pool stocks every tier, so the common copies it hands you fuse upward into the one you want. Counting them, a top-tier Hallowed Headgear schematic works out at roughly 1775 containers against the 9091 the 4★ drop rate alone suggests. Spare low tiers are progress, not clutter. Schematics fuse five-to-one, so a lower tier with better odds can beat the top tier outright. Counts are containers of that source, not time.
| Schematic | Rarity | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| 4★ | Yakushima treasure chests — best 0.011% (grade 1) |
Alternatives and Upgrades
Step up from here and you get Pal Metal Helm at 195 defense; step down and it is Hallowed Helmet at 182. How far apart those two sit tells you whether to spend now or keep what you have.
