Where to Find Vanguard Charm

The recipe is not on the Technology tree — it is locked behind a schematic you have to find first. The best single source is treasure chests in the Sunreach Isle at 2.4% per container, and the table below lists every tier and where each one drops.

The schematic has one guaranteed copy and three random ones. The guaranteed copy is a fixed reward container that hands over the schematic together with 45 Gold Coins — a one-time pickup you unlock by solving the terminal puzzle it is attached to, so it does not respawn. The random rolls are all grade 5 chest tables: 0.98% from the crates on the large oil rig, 0.15% from Sky Island treasure chests and 0.12% from Sky Island field chests. That is roughly one copy per 102 rig crates against one per 685 or 862 chests up top, so if you miss the fixed reward the rig is the only farm worth running — the Sky Islands are a lottery ticket you pick up in passing, not a plan.

Using Vanguard Charm Well

Nothing in the technology tree unlocks this. The recipe is gated on the Vanguard Charm Schematic (Vanguard Charm Schematic) — the schematic has to be sitting in your inventory before the charm will appear on any crafting list, and it appears only on the upper tier of stations: the production assembly lines, the advanced workshop and the ancient workbench. The plain workbench never shows it, no matter what you are carrying.

Budget the craft time, not just the materials. The recipe carries 400,000 work, so hand-cranking it at the station is a waste of an evening — queue it on a line staffed with your highest-level Handiwork Pals and go do something else. The bill of materials is the easier half: 30 Ancient Bone and 30 Polymer put this firmly in late-game territory, well after you have a steady bone and organ supply running.

The reason to build this is slot economy, not raw numbers. Heat Resistance Lv. 3, Cold Resistance Lv. 3 and Health Up Lv. 4 all ride on one accessory, so a single slot covers both ends of the temperature range and still pays a health bonus — that frees the rest of your accessory loadout for damage or elemental cuts on desert and glacier runs, where you would otherwise be carrying a heat ring and a cold ring and getting nothing else from either.

What Vanguard Charm Does

Vanguard Charm grants Heat Resistance Lv. 3 / Cold Resistance Lv. 3: Temperature Resist Cold +3, Temperature Resist Heat +3.

Vanguard Charm grants Health Up Lv. 4: Max HP +25.

Schematics That Unlock Vanguard Charm

Vanguard Charm is not learned from the Technology tree — you need a schematic for it. One schematic grants the recipe, and they are world loot — chests, boss Pals and the late-game pools — rather than anything you research. Higher-rarity copies of the same schematic raise the quality of what you end up crafting.

Fastest route. The top-tier Vanguard Charm schematic is worth hunting directly — treasure chests in the Sunreach Isle is its best source, at roughly 42 containers a copy. Schematics fuse five-to-one, so a lower tier with better odds can beat the top tier outright. Counts are containers of that source, not time.
