Dragon Grenade
Weapon · WeaponThrowObject0★Mid-range thrown ordnance that arms on release and detonates a few seconds later, putting Dragon damage on everything caught in it.
Dragon Grenade is among the best throwables by attack — 3rd of 11, at 750 against the 4,000 of Frag Grenade Mk2.
This is where the crafting chain ends — nothing downstream consumes it, so a stockpile earns you nothing.
Details
It weighs almost nothing and stacks to 9,999, so there is no reason not to carry a full stack.
Dragon Grenade Crafting Recipe
Crafting it takes 12 materials across 3 types, and the bottleneck is almost always the 10× requirement — line that up first and the rest follows.
Where to Find Dragon Grenade
Dragon Grenade is not something you find lying around — you craft it, and the recipe is below.
Using Dragon Grenade Well
The technology that unlocks this sits at level 42 and costs 2 points — the last rung of the elemental grenade ladder that starts with Frag Grenade at level 25. Every one of those rungs, Dragon included, throws for the same 750 attack, so reaching level 42 buys you an element tag and nothing else. It also builds slower: 13000 work against the plain Frag Grenade's 10000. The only grenade that actually hits harder is Frag Grenade Mk2, which needs level 53 and swaps stone for Pal Metal Ingot and Crude Oil.
Horn is the only ingredient here that gates the craft, and it is not rare — Elgrove and Hartalis drop 2 to 3 on every kill, Eikthyrdeer and its Terra form drop a guaranteed 2, and the village, desert, caravan and dungeon merchants all stock it at 200 Gold. One Horn per grenade means a single hunting trip through Eikthyrdeer country covers a full throwing loadout, and the stone and gunpowder alongside it cost nothing at that point in a save.
This is the only throwable in the game that deals Dragon damage — no other grenade, and no thrown item of any kind, carries the element. That makes it the cheap way to put Dragon damage on a target when you have no Dragon weapon and no Dragon Pal out, which matters most against enemies that shrug off the element you are actually built around. For everything else, the level-25 Frag Grenade lands the identical 750 for ten stone and a gunpowder, so keep a stack of both rather than replacing one with the other.
Alternatives and Upgrades
Dark Grenade matches it exactly at 750 attack — those two differ in what they resist and what they weigh, not in raw attack, so picking between them is a swap rather than an upgrade. The next real step is Frag Grenade Mk2 at 4,000; below it is Frag Grenade at 750.
