Ice Grenade
Weapon · WeaponThrowObject0★Mid-range throwable that goes off a few seconds after the throw, freezing everything in the area around it.
Ice Grenade is 7th of 11 throwables by attack, at 750 against the 4,000 of Frag Grenade Mk2.
This is where the crafting chain ends — nothing downstream consumes it, so a stockpile earns you nothing.
Details
It weighs almost nothing and stacks to 9,999, so there is no reason not to carry a full stack.
Ice Grenade Crafting Recipe
Crafting it takes 12 materials across 3 types, and the bottleneck is almost always the 10× requirement — line that up first and the rest follows.
Where to Find Ice Grenade
Ice Grenade is not something you find lying around — you craft it, and the recipe is below.
Using Ice Grenade Well
This is the cheap end of the throwable line. Everything but the organ is field stock — ten Stone and one Gunpowder — and the level-29 technology is the only spend, unlike Water Grenade, which needs a second 2-point technology at level 31 for Cryogenic Coolant before you can build a single one. That makes the Ice Grenade the first elemental throwable most runs can actually keep stocked, and the Ice Organ supply you set up for it is the same one the Water Grenade will want later.
One Ice Organ per grenade is the whole bottleneck, and it has a renewable answer: Foxcicle or Mau Cryst on a ranch drops it on a loop with no combat at all. For a batch, kill instead — Frostallion hands over 10 at a time, Kingpaca Cryst 3 to 6, Bastigor 2 to 5, and Penking 1 to 3, all at 100% rate. The Caravan, Desert and Dungeon merchants sell it outright at 300 Gold if you want to skip the trip, and a Very Hard expedition to the PAL Genetic Research Laboratory returns 10 to 20 per two-hour run.
Ice is the answer to Dragons, so this is the throwable to bring to Xenolord, Jetragon, Astegon, Orserk and Relaxaurus, and to the Dragon-heavy raids generally. The 750 damage is flat across the whole grenade family, so the element is the entire reason to pick this one — against a Fire target it is the worst throwable you own, and the plain Frag Grenade does the same number for less. Stock a dedicated stack before a Dragon fight rather than carrying one of each.
Alternatives and Upgrades
Ground Grenade matches it exactly at 750 attack — those two differ in what they resist and what they weigh, not in raw attack, so picking between them is a swap rather than an upgrade. The next real step is Frag Grenade Mk2 at 4,000; below it is Incendiary Grenade at 750.
