Where to Find Frag Grenade Mk2
Frag Grenade Mk2 shows up as world loot — enemy camp loot in the Desert, enemy camp loot in the Snowfields and enemy camp loot in the Sakurajima, and 1 more pool besides, usually 1–2 at a time.
| How | Where | Details |
|---|---|---|
| World loot | Enemy camp loot in the Desert | Grade 1 · 10.0% chance · 1–2 at a time |
| World loot | Enemy camp loot in the Snowfields | Grade 1 · 10.0% chance · 1–2 at a time |
| World loot | Enemy camp loot in the Sakurajima | Grade 1 · 10.0% chance · 1–2 at a time |
| World loot | Sea base enemy camp loot in the Snowfields | Grade 1 · 10.0% chance · 1–2 at a time |
Using Frag Grenade Mk2 Well
The recipe comes off the Technology tree at level 53 for 3 points — twenty-eight levels past the plain Frag Grenade (level 25, 2 points) and well past the elemental grenades at 27 to 31. Nothing sits between them, so elemental throwables carry most of a playthrough and Mk2 is a late-game item you save for bosses and tower fights rather than routine clearing.
Each one costs 3 Pal Metal Ingot and 3 Crude Oil on top of the Gunpowder, so throughput is capped by oil rather than by the bench — worth batching only once you have a Pal-run oil supply, and worth checking enemy camps in the Desert, Snowfields and Sakurajima first, since camp loot hands them over at a 10% roll for nothing.
4000 attack puts it more than five times above every other throwable in the game: Frag Grenade, Shock Grenade, Incendiary Grenade and the rest of the elemental line all sit at 750. It also carries no element, so the whole 4000 lands the same against any target instead of swinging on a type matchup — the elemental grenades only close the gap when the target is weak to what they carry, and even then not by this much.
Alternatives and Upgrades
Nothing in the throwable class beats it on attack. The next one down is Dark Grenade at 750, so if you are still using that, this is the upgrade worth the materials.
