Using Starryon Saddle Well
Night Dancer, the skill this saddle switches on, is two separate effects and only one of them is always live. The jump bonus is flat: +25% jump power while you are in the saddle, at every partner skill rank. The speed bonus is night-gated — it reads +50% at rank 1 and climbs 62%, 74%, 86%, 100% as the rank goes up, so a rank 5 Starryon moves at double speed after dark and at its plain 1,250 ride sprint under the sun. Ranking the partner skill up changes nothing about how it handles at midday.
This saddle fits Starryon only. Starryon Primo takes the Starryon Primo Saddle, a separate Technology entry with its own bill — 36 Leather, 18 High Quality Cloth, 24 Dark Fragment, 20 Pal Oil and 65 Paldium Fragment — so catching the Primo variant later means paying for the gear a second time, Pal Oil included.
That split decides what the saddle is for. A daytime Starryon is a mid-pack ground mount and there are faster ones you can already ride at level 57; at night, with the skill ranked, it is one of the quickest ways to cross the map on the ground, and the +25% jump is what lets it take slopes a horse would otherwise have to go around. Build it if you play through the night cycle or run night-only spawn farms — if you reset the clock at a bed every evening, most of what you crafted stays switched off.
Starryon Saddle — Starryon's Gear
Starryon Saddle is Starryon's own gear — no other Pal can equip it, and Starryon cannot be ridden or put to work in its geared role until you have this in your inventory.
Equipping it turns on Starryon's partner skill, Night Dancer.
Starryon is Dark, which is what decides where it is worth taking — the gear does not change its typing, only what you can do with it.
