Wearing the cap grants Dark Damage Reduction Lv. 1, worth 15% off incoming Dark damage — the cap pays for itself against Katress itself and any other Dark attacker. That resistance is Lv. 1 on all five rarities of the cap, so this tier adds defense, HP and durability and nothing else. If you only came for the Dark protection, the plain cap protects exactly as well.

Every rarity of the cap needs its own schematic, and owning a lower one does not unlock this recipe. The plain cap's schematic shows up in wandering merchant stock at Duneshelter for 500 Gold; the 22-hair version only appears at a bench once you have found the tier-4 schematic.
