Explorer Cap

Armor · ArmorHead4

Explorer Cap is 52nd of 202 head pieces by defense, at 100 against the 650 of Ancient Helm.

Wearing it also carries the effect Heat Resistance Lv. 1, which matters more than the raw numbers in the biomes that punish you for the wrong outfit.

It feeds no other recipe, which makes it a terminal item: craft what you will actually carry and stop there.

Explorer Cap Crafting Recipe

Cloth×49
What it really costs, once every sub-recipe is expanded
Work: 192000

Crafting it takes 71 materials across 3 types, and the bottleneck is almost always the 49× requirement — line that up first and the rest follows.

Where to Find Explorer Cap

Explorer Cap is not something you find lying around — you craft it, and the recipe is below.

Only the base schematic is on a vendor. The desert merchant at Duneshelter stocks Exploration Cap Schematic 1 for 500 Gold, and no shop in the game sells the upgraded schematics — the legendary recipe unlock, Blueprint of Exploration Hat 5, has to be found rather than bought. Its 2,500 gold price tag is a sell value, not a shelf price.

Using Explorer Cap Well

Wearing it grants Heat Resistant Lv. 1, and that is the same tier the plain 500-gold version carries. Every rarity of the cap runs the identical passive, so climbing to the legendary tier buys you defense and HP and nothing extra against the desert sun. If heat protection is all you want, the cheap cap already does the whole job.

Once the blueprint is in your bags the cap still comes off a Primitive Workbench, so there is no bench upgrade gating this tier. What changes is the clock: 192,000 work against 12,000 for the common cap, sixteen times the labour. Stack the bench with your best Handiwork Pals and queue it rather than cranking it out by hand.

Selling the cap is a dead end for profit. Every rarity above the base one carries the same 1,000 gold value, so a legendary cap fetches exactly what an uncommon one does despite costing four times the cloth.

Every Tier of Explorer Cap

The same piece exists at 5 rarities, and the gap is not cosmetic: defense runs 25 to 100, a 4x swing. Which one you end up with is decided by the rarity of the schematic you built from, not by the recipe — so a legendary copy of this is worth more than the next item up built from a common one.

What Explorer Cap Does

Explorer Cap grants Heat Resistance Lv. 1: Temperature Resist Heat +1.

Schematics That Unlock Explorer Cap

Explorer Cap is not learned from the Technology tree — you need a schematic for it. One schematic grants the recipe, and they are world loot — chests, boss Pals and the late-game pools — rather than anything you research. Higher-rarity copies of the same schematic raise the quality of what you end up crafting.

Alternatives and Upgrades

Step up from here and you get Monarch's Crown at 120 defense; step down and it is Silk Hat at 100. The size of that step is what decides whether the crafting bill is justified yet.
