Silk Hat
Armor · ArmorHead4★Silk Hat is 53rd of 202 head pieces by defense, at 100 against the 650 of Ancient Helm.
Wearing it also carries the effect Fire Damage Reduction Lv. 1, which matters more than the raw numbers in the biomes that punish you for the wrong outfit.
Nothing is crafted from it — it is an end product, so anything you make is meant to be used rather than banked as a component.
Details
It does not stack, so every spare copy costs an inventory slot.
Silk Hat Crafting Recipe
Crafting it takes 73 materials across 1 type.
Where to Find Silk Hat
Silk Hat is not something you find lying around — you craft it, and the recipe is below.
No technology level unlocks the Silk Hat. Each rarity is opened by its own schematic, and the only one sold anywhere is Silk Hat Schematic 1 — permanent stock at the desert town shop for 500 gold, which builds the 25-defense base hat. The legendary recipe stays hidden until 5 Schematic Diagrams of the Silk Hat is sitting in your inventory, so the shop copy gets you the look and the resistance early but never this tier.
Using Silk Hat Well
This is the only headgear line in the game that carries Fire element resistance — no helmet, no Pal-themed cap, nothing else in the head slot has it. Against a Fire boss the real choice is 100 defense plus the resist here, or the raw 650 defense of Ancient Helm with no elemental cut at all.
The resistance does not scale with rarity: all five Silk Hats grant the same Fire Resistance Lv. 1. If the elemental cut is the only thing you are after, the 15-cloth shop version delivers it in full, and the 73 cloth spent here buys defense, HP and durability alone.
Its 100 defense and 280 HP are identical to Soft Hat, Tricorne and Explorer Cap. Those four legendary hats are one stat block with four different resistances attached, so pick by the element you are walking into — this one for volcano runs and Fire bosses.
One material the whole way up — 73 Cloth, no ingots, no leather. The cost that actually bites is work: 192,000, sixteen times the base hat, so park your best Handiwork pals on the bench rather than crafting it by hand. It also pays the largest crafting EXP of the line by a wide margin.
Every Tier of Silk Hat
The same piece exists at 5 rarities, and the gap is not cosmetic: defense runs 25 to 100, a 4x swing. Which one you end up with is decided by the rarity of the schematic you built from, not by the recipe — so a legendary copy of this is worth more than the next item up built from a common one.
What Silk Hat Does
Silk Hat grants Fire Damage Reduction Lv. 1: Element Resist Fire +15.
Schematics That Unlock Silk Hat
Silk Hat is not learned from the Technology tree — you need a schematic for it. One schematic grants the recipe, and they are world loot — chests, boss Pals and the late-game pools — rather than anything you research. Higher-rarity copies of the same schematic raise the quality of what you end up crafting.

Alternatives and Upgrades
Explorer Cap matches it exactly at 100 defense — those two differ in what they resist and what they weigh, not in raw defense, so picking between them is a swap rather than an upgrade. The next real step is Monarch's Crown at 120; below it is Soft Hat at 100.
