Using Shroomer Hat Well
The hat is not cosmetic-only: it carries Grass Damage Reduction Lv. 1, worth 15% off every point of Grass damage that lands on you, and it runs the entire time the hat is equipped — no HP threshold, no stance, no partner-Pal condition. That mitigation is the whole reason to wear it, because 20 defense and 60 HP are close to meaningless at the level you unlock the Arena.
Check the Bounty Shop before you spend the tickets. The Herbil Headband is the same piece under a different mesh — 20 defense, 60 HP, 300 durability and the identical Grass Damage Reduction Lv. 1 — and it costs 5 Successful Bounty Tokens instead of 80 Battle Tickets. Unless you specifically want the mushroom on your head, the headband is the cheap way to buy this exact stat line.
If the Grass resist is the point rather than the look, the Ring of Grass Resistance carries Lv. 3 of the same line in an accessory slot, which frees the head slot for armour that actually has numbers. And on the Arena shelf itself, 20 more tickets buys Dandilord Hat at 30 defense and 80 HP — the only hat there with a real stat line, though it cuts Dark damage instead of Grass.
The hat is modelled on Shroomer, a pure Grass Pal, which is why it resists Grass — the Arena and bounty hats inherit the element of the Pal whose head they copy rather than rolling a resistance at random.
