Where to Find Munchill Effigy
Thirty are placed in the world and the ladder costs twenty, so you have ten spare — and every one of the thirty sits on the main map, none behind the World Tree gate that locks the Cattiva Effigy track. The geography is unusually tight: 27 of the 30 are in the northeastern desert, inside the dune belt around Duneshelter. The other three are scattered oddities — one near Suncrest Islet (about 120 m southwest), one near Sandstone Gate Islet (about 300 m north), one near Scouring Islet (about 150 m south). Because 27 clears the 20 you need, the whole track can be finished without ever leaving the sand.
The desert 27, grouped by the fast-travel point you should land on, with rough distance and heading from it: - Desert Backbone — 4 of them: ~175 m SE, ~330 m E, ~415 m SW, ~600 m W. - Frozen Dune Cape — 4: ~260 m SE, ~300 m N, ~435 m E, ~445 m S. - Deep Sand Dunes — 3: ~85 m E, ~405 m W, ~545 m SW. - PIDF Tower Entrance — 3: ~70 m SW, ~320 m SW, ~470 m NE. - Seaward Passage — 3: ~250 m W, ~380 m N, ~535 m SE. - Sand Dunes Entrance — 2: ~250 m N and ~410 m N. - Windwatch Outlook — 2: ~285 m S, ~330 m NE. - Thirst's End — 2: ~285 m W, ~445 m SE. - The Furthest Flats — 1, ~145 m SE. - Sandbar of Solitude — 1, ~180 m NE. - Dustview Coast — 1, ~290 m NE. - Desiccated Coast — 1, ~310 m SW. Seven of them sit 100 m or more above sea level, up on the rock rather than on the dune floor, so a flying mount pays for itself on this route. Wear heat-resistant armor for the daytime legs and swap to cold-resistant for anything you run after dark — the desert swings both ways.
Using Munchill Effigy Well
The "certain statue" is a Statue of Power — the one you can build at your own base, or any of the pre-placed statues standing in the ruined churches. A Munchill effigy buys exactly one thing there, Food Decay Reduction, and cannot be spent on capture power the way a Lifmunk Effigy can. The ladder runs 20 ranks at one effigy per rank, ending at 50% slower spoilage on the food you are carrying. Misspent offerings are cheap to undo — a single gold coin resets any track — and the bonus is per-player, so every person on a co-op server collects their own.
Halving the spoilage clock matters most on the trips where you cannot get back to a cooler at base: long dungeon crawls, oil rig runs, and the walk out to a new base site with a stack of cooked dishes in your bag. It does nothing for food already sitting in a refrigerator, so treat this track as travel insurance rather than a base upgrade. The efficient play is to fold the pickups into desert business you were doing anyway — ore runs, the bounty hunt, Anubis — instead of making a dedicated trip, and to spend your first four effigies elsewhere if you have not yet cleared the four-relic EXP and homing tracks, which pay far more per pickup.
