Lightweight Ancient Armor
Armor · ArmorBody4★Lightweight Ancient Armor is among the best body armours by defense — 3rd of 145, at 1,092 against the 1,092 of Cold-Resistant Ancient Armor.
Wearing it also carries the effects Cold Resistance Lv. 2, Heat Resistance Lv. 2, Max Carrying Capacity Lv. 4, Attack Up (S) Lv. 4, which matters more than the raw numbers in the biomes that punish you for the wrong outfit.
Nothing is crafted from it — it is an end product, so anything you make is meant to be used rather than banked as a component.

At 40 weight each it eats carry capacity fast, so bring a mount or park a chest nearby. At 5,512,990 gold it is worth real money to a merchant.

Where to Find Lightweight Ancient Armor
Lightweight Ancient Armor is not something you find lying around — you craft it, and the recipe is below.
Every schematic route listed for this armour is a container roll — you open the thing and hope the pool hands you this piece rather than one of the other legendaries. One source is not a container. Bjorn, mounted on Bastigor, holds the tower in the far south-west at roughly -1294, -1669, and the Hard Mode version of that fight gives up the Legendary schematic at around one clear in ten. Hard Mode does not appear on the door until you have beaten the pair once on the normal setting, so the first run is the entry fee and every run after it is a roll you can take on demand instead of farming loot first.
Both random routes have a supply chain worth building before you grind them. The dig only pays this schematic on tier 5 treasure maps, and those maps come out of Dark Island and Sky Island chests and the technology-book stands in the Viking ruins dungeons — those are the runs that stock your map pile. On the recycler side every relic grade from Decayed through to Glistening can return it, but the odds improve as the grade does, and Glistening Ancient Relics are the one grade you can farm without leaving base: a Very Hard team on The World Tree's Forbidden Area brings back 2 to 4 every two hours, so the recycler stays fed while you do something else.
Using Lightweight Ancient Armor Well
The schematic can sit in your bag a long while before you can act on it. This craft only happens at the Ancient Workbench, which unlocks at Technology 67 for 5 Ancient Technology Points, draws 2,000 power, and is a station you never operate yourself — it runs on assigned Pals, so the Handiwork ratings on your base crew decide how fast it goes. Then budget the labour: 16,000,000 work against 500,000 for the plain Lightweight Ancient Armor, thirty-two times the job for a single piece.
All four Legendary ancient chest pieces come off the same bench for the same 16,000,000 work, so the pick is about what rides alongside the numbers rather than the numbers themselves. This one, the Cold-Resistant and the Heat-Resistant all land on 1,092 defence, 3,120 HP and 100,000 durability, and plain Ancient Armor gives up 52 defence to the three of them. Cold and Heat buy their edge by pushing one temperature tier to Lv. 3 and adding elemental damage reduction, and they spend a slot doing it. Lightweight holds both temperatures at Lv. 2 and puts that slot into carrying capacity instead — the one bonus that pays on every trip rather than in one biome. It charges for that: 14 AI Cores against 10 for the Cold and Heat builds and 6 for the plain one, which makes it the most core-hungry chest piece in the game.
Schematics That Unlock Lightweight Ancient Armor
Lightweight Ancient Armor is not learned from the Technology tree — you need a schematic for it. One schematic grants the recipe, and they are world loot — chests, boss Pals and the late-game pools — rather than anything you research. Higher-rarity copies of the same schematic raise the quality of what you end up crafting.
| Schematic | Rarity | Where it comes from |

Alternatives and Upgrades
Step up from here and you get Heat-Resistant Ancient Armor at 1,092 defense; step down and it is Ancient Armor at 1,040. That gap is the honest measure of whether an upgrade is worth the materials right now.
