Where to Find Cold-Resistant Ancient Armor

The recipe is not on the Technology tree — it is locked behind a schematic you have to find first. The best single source is fishing in the World Tree at 0.8% per container, and the table below lists every tier and where each one drops.

Using Cold-Resistant Ancient Armor Well

The stat block is only half of what this piece does. Equipping it applies four passives: Cold Resistance Lv. 3, Heat Resistance Lv. 2, Ice Damage Reduction Lv. 1 — a flat 15% cut to incoming Ice damage — and +12 Shot Attack. That last line is grade-locked and the only thing that changes as you climb: the ladder pays 3, 6, 9 and 12 Shot Attack from Uncommon up, and the plain Cold-Resistant Ancient Armor off the tech tree carries no attack line at all. The three resistances are identical on every rung, so the whole case for hunting the Legendary schematic over a lower copy is defence, durability and those 12 points of gun damage — not one degree of extra warmth.

It cannot be handcrafted and it will not appear at an ordinary bench. The recipe surfaces only at the Ancient Workbench, and only while Cold-Resistant Ancient Armor Schematic 4 is sitting in your inventory. Budget for the queue as well as the materials: this rank carries 32 times the crafting work of the tech-tree version and double the Epic copy's, so one Pal on a bare bench will grind at it for a very long stretch. Stack Handiwork before you queue it, not after.

Read it as a both-ends temperature piece rather than a cold specialist. Cold Lv. 3 is the top rung any body armour reaches, but the Heat Lv. 2 riding alongside it means the same chest piece covers a freezing night and a warm region without a swap. Heat-Resistant Ancient Armor is its exact mirror — the same 1,092 defence, 3,120 HP, 40 weight and 100,000 durability, with the two temperature grades flipped and Fire mitigation where this has Ice. Neither out-tanks the other. You are only choosing which extreme gets the Lv. 3 and which element you want 15% off.

Wearing this frees an accessory slot. Cold Resistance Lv. 3 is the entire payload of Thermal Undershirt, so keeping that equipped on top of this armour buys nothing at all. Wumpo Charm is half wasted for the same reason — its cold line duplicates the armour's and only its Ice mitigation still does work, taking you from Lv. 1 to Lv. 4. Every other cold-line body armour tops out at Lv. 2 and does want the accessory; this one does not.

The same piece exists at 5 rarities, and the gap is not cosmetic: defense runs 840 to 1092, a 1.3x swing. Which one you end up with is decided by the rarity of the schematic you built from, not by the recipe — so a legendary copy of this is worth more than the next item up built from a common one.

Higher-rarity copies of the same schematic raise the quality of what you end up crafting.

Fastest route. The fastest route is fishing in the World Tree, and the reason is the ladder rather than the top rung: that pool stocks every tier, so the common copies it hands you fuse upward into the one you want.
