Palworld 0.1.5.0 Patch Notes: Every Fix and Change — Palworld Database

Version 0.1.5.0 was the February 27, 2024 patch that finally gave early access players a save data backup, full keyboard rebinding, and one of the biggest single-Pal buffs of the early patch run. This page walks through what it changed, which numbers it moved, what the two known issues were at launch, and how much of it still shapes the game you play today — every stat here comes straight from our Palworld Database and structure list.

Palworld 0.1.5.0 Release Date and Contents

The patch went out on February 27, 2024 for the Steam and Xbox Game Pass builds. It was a repair-and-comfort patch rather than a content drop — no new Pals, no new region, no new tech tier — but it carried two changes players had been asking for since launch week: a save file that backs itself up, and controls you can actually rebind. If you host for other people, the same version rule that applies today applied then, and it is covered in How to Update Your Palworld Server and Fix Version Mismatch.

The 0.1.5.0 Changes That Actually Mattered

Most of the patch was fixes, but five entries genuinely changed how a save plays. The save backup is the one that saved runs — worlds were being corrupted, and until this patch there was no in-game recovery at all. The Digtoise buff is the one that changed base building, because it turned a rarity 5 Pal into the ore answer for anyone who hadn't reached the heavy hitters yet. The nail fix is the one that closed a money faucet, and the condenser change is the one that quietly made ranking Pals up cheaper. Ranked by how much they altered a normal playthrough:

ChangeWhat it didWhy it mattered
Save data backupAdded a backup option on the world selection screen, plus a cleanup for junk data piling up in savesThe first in-game answer to a corrupted world; before this your only option was a manual file copy
Digtoise mining powerSignificantly strengthenedIts Drill Crusher partner skill hits rock for 640 mining damage — a rarity 5 Pal doing serious ore work
Nail selling priceCorrected an abnormally high sell valueNails cost 1 Ingot for 5, and 77 recipes need them — the old price made crafting them a gold printer
Pal Essence CondenserRank 1 and higher Pals give more essence when usedCondensing stopped wasting the ranks you had already paid for, cutting the Pal cost of every rank-up
Key configurationFull keyboard rebinding addedThe launch build shipped fixed keys, which broke left-handed and non-QWERTY layouts outright

Digtoise's Mining Power Was Significantly Increased

Digtoise is the spinning shell you ride into rock, and before this patch it was a novelty. The buff made its Drill Crusher partner skill the fastest way to clear nodes for most mid-game players, and it is still a strong pick: 640 mining damage per hit, a Mining rank of 4, and 120 Defense — the highest number on its own stat line, which is why it survives being ridden into a cliff. There are 57 Pals with a Mining suitability and only one sits at rank 8, so 4 is squarely mid-table, but Digtoise's value has never been its work rank. It is the mount, and mounts do not compete with base workers.

Spawn points660 on the map, day and night

Digtoise is not rare, which is the other half of why the buff landed so hard — it has 660 spawn points across the map and the same set at night, so you can catch several without a detour. Open the Digtoise spawn map to see the exact clusters, and if you are setting up an ore base around it, How to Farm Ore: Best Locations and Mining Site Setup pairs the mount with the nodes worth parking on. The map counts 8,157 rock nodes and 1,632 copper ore nodes in total, so the limit was never the rock — it was how fast you could break it.

Anubis Now Prioritises Manual Labour

The patch retuned default work priorities across the board, and Anubis was the named example: it now heads for handiwork first instead of wandering off to whatever job was closest. That matters more for Anubis than for almost any other Pal because it is one of very few workers holding rank 6 in two different jobs at once, and left to its own devices it would sink those ranks into hauling. Anubis is rarity 10 with 130 Melee and 130 Shot Attack, so it doubles as a fighter, and it has 35 spawn points concentrated in the desert.

JobAnubis rankWhat it means
Handiwork6Its default priority after 0.1.5.0 — the crafting bench job that gates every recipe
Mining6Equal-best rank, but it will now leave rock alone while handiwork is queued
Transporting4The job it used to get stuck on, which wasted the two ranks above

If you are still building your base roster, Best Base Pals in Palworld: 7 Workers for Every Job covers who to slot next to it, and the full ranking per job lives on the work suitability rankings. The short version has not changed since this patch: put Anubis on a workbench, not on a conveyor.

The Nail Selling Price Fix

Nails were selling for far more than they were worth, and since one Ingot crafts five of them, players had a loop that turned ore into gold faster than any merchant route. The patch corrected the number. Today a Nail carries a gold value of 60 against an Ingot's 240, so five nails come out at 300 — a real margin on paper, but one that costs 1,500 work units at the bench to realise, which is the part that makes it a poor gold strategy and a fine crafting habit.

NailDetail
Nail gold value60
Recipe1 Ingot → 5 Nails
Craft work1,500 units
Items that need it26 recipes, including every Crossbow tier and the Compound Bow
Structures that need it51, from the Mounted Machine Gun to lamps and beds

That 77-recipe footprint is why the fix mattered beyond the exploit. Nails are a background material you burn constantly once you are past stone-age building, so any change to their value ripples through the whole base building tree. Keep a stack of Ingots and batch-craft nails while you are doing something else — the work cost is the only real price.

Mossanda Stopped Trapping Dungeon Bosses

Mossanda's Grenadier Panda partner skill lets you ride it and fire a grenade launcher, and the knockback from those grenades was shoving dungeon bosses into geometry they could not get out of. The fight would stall with the boss stuck and unkillable, so the patch mitigated the interaction. Mossanda is rarity 6 with a Lumbering rank of 4 and a Transporting rank of 4, and its Grass typing is the reason it stays useful on a base while doubling as a combat mount — its saddle, Mossanda's Grenade Launcher, unlocks at technology level 32.

The same skill sits on Mossanda Lux, the Electric variant, whose launcher unlocks two tech levels later at 34. If you run either one for dungeon clears, the dungeon list shows which bosses you will meet at each level band.

Sphere Launcher Range and the Free Pal Alliance Crossbow

Two weapon adjustments landed together. Sphere launcher flight distances were rebalanced, which changed how you lead a moving target when you are trying to capture rather than kill, and the Free Pal Alliance's crossbow picked up an electric shock effect — meaning their raiders could now stun you instead of just chipping you. There are three sphere launcher tiers and they are strictly a capture tool, so their gold values below tell you where each sits in the progression rather than how hard they hit.

LauncherTierGold valueKey materials
Single-Shot Sphere Launcher223,64050 Ingot, 100 Stone, 50 Paldium Fragment, 3 Ancient Civilization Parts
Scatter Sphere Launcher3103,08050 Refined Ingot, 15 Polymer, 50 Paldium Fragment, 30 Carbon Fiber, 5 Ancient Civilization Parts
Homing Sphere Launcher4294,000100 Pal Metal Ingot, 50 Polymer, 200 Paldium Fragment, 50 Carbon Fiber, 10 Ancient Civilization Parts

The crossbow change is easier to feel than to read. Free Pal Alliance waves attack your base across five difficulty brackets, from the level 15 Radicals worth 120 EXP up to the level 50 Task Force worth 106,470, and adding a shock effect to their weapon meant the higher waves could lock you in place mid-fight. The base raid list shows every wave composition and level range, and the base Crossbow you can build yourself sits at 280 attack with 300 durability, climbing to 490 attack and 1,400 durability at the top schematic tier — crossbow numbers only, not comparable to a rifle's.

Base and Pal Behaviour Fixes

This is where the bulk of the patch went. Pals were getting wedged into logging sites, base borders, and farm roofs, looping transport tasks forever, and playing the same attack sound on repeat until you restarted. None of these are glamorous, but they were the reason a base that ran fine for an hour would be doing nothing when you flew back to it. The two entries worth knowing about long-term are the condenser change and the temperature stacking rule.

FixWhat changed
Pals stuck on terrainLogging sites, base borders and farm roofs no longer trap workers
Transport task loopPals repeating a haul forever were freed
Infinite audio loopPal active skill sounds no longer repeat endlessly
Default work prioritiesRetuned so Pals pick their best job — Anubis now goes to handiwork first
Building restrictionsStairs and triangular roofs became easier to place
Environmental temperatureHeat and cold sources now stack cumulatively instead of one overriding the rest
Pal Essence CondenserRank 1 and higher Pals give more essence when condensed
Level 50 skill learningPals hitting level 50 from a large EXP chunk now learn their active skills properly
Aggressive PalsPals set to attack aggressively now engage enemies outside of combat too
Crime detectionProhibited hunting areas stopped flagging you incorrectly, and police spawn more when you do offend
Object interactionPrompts became accurate when two objects sit next to each other
One-press craftingCraft, cook and plant in one press, toggleable in settings

The condenser entry is the sleeper. The Pal Essence Condenser unlocks at technology level 14 for 20 Paldium Fragment, 20 Ingot and 5 Ancient Civilization Parts, and it eats duplicate Pals to push one Pal up the rank ladder. Making already-ranked Pals worth more essence means the duplicates you condensed earlier are not wasted, which is exactly the trick How to Rank Up Pals: Condenser, Ripe Starfruit, and Handbooks is built around today.

Monitoring Stands Gained a Relax Mode

The patch added a "relax" working style to the monitoring stand, letting you tell your base to work slowly and keep its SAN instead of grinding itself into a breakdown. It also created the patch's most annoying side effect: every stand built before the update defaulted to that slowest setting, so bases came back from the update apparently broken. The fix was to open the stand and set the pace back yourself. There are three tiers, and the two upgrades do more than look nicer — both actively reduce how fast your workers lose SAN.

StandTech levelMaterialsExtra effect
Monitoring Stand730 Wood, 10 StoneWork orders only
High Quality Monitoring Stand28100 Ingot, 30 CementLowers SAN cost for working Pals
Ancient Monitoring Stand71100 Soralite Ingot, 5 Ancient Civilization CoreStrongest SAN reduction across the whole base

The jump from tier 1 to tier 2 is the one to make early — 100 Ingot and 30 Cement is a normal mid-game bill, and it buys you a permanent SAN discount rather than a cosmetic change. The Ancient version at technology level 71 is an endgame project gated behind Ancient Civilization Cores. Full controls are broken down in How to Use the Monitoring Stand and All Upgrades.

Hot Springs Restore More SAN

Hot springs got a straight recovery buff, which is the other half of the SAN economy this patch was clearly trying to fix — one building slows the drain, the other refills the tank. The basic Hot Spring arrives at technology level 9 for a cheap bill, so there is no excuse for a base without one, and each upgrade tier restores more. Four versions exist, and the ancient one is explicitly the best in the game at it.

Hot springTech levelMaterials
Hot Spring920 Wood, 15 Stone, 7 Paldium Fragment, 3 Aquatic Pal Fluids
High Quality Hot Spring3150 Stone, 50 Wood, 3 Cryogenic Coolant, 10 Cement
Japanese-Style Hot Spring6430 Coralum Ingot, 10 Thermal Core, 20 Paldium Fragment, 20 Hardwood
Ancient Hot Spring76100 Paloxite Ingot, 10 World Tree Holy Water, 20 Thermal Core, 20 Cryogenic Coolant

For most bases the level 31 High Quality version is the stopping point — stone, wood, cement and three coolant is nothing, and the two tiers above it want Thermal Cores and Paloxite. If your workers are still burning out with a spring built, the problem is usually food rather than the bath, which Best Food for SAN and Hunger: Top Meals and Hot Springs covers. The Japanese-style version has its own build page at How to Get Japanese-Style Hot Spring: Cost and SAN Boost.

Save Backup, Key Config, and Server Changes

The headline feature was save data backup from the world selection screen, alongside a cleanup pass for the junk data that had been bloating save files since launch. Full keyboard rebinding landed in the same patch, in-game brightness became adjustable, and the multiplayer side got a rebuilt server lobby with working name search and a visible online player count on dedicated servers. Guild owners also got the ability to remove members who are offline, which had been a genuine problem for anyone whose guild filled up with people who quit.

The in-game backup is convenient, not bulletproof — it lives with the same save it is protecting. If a world matters to you, keep a copy somewhere else too; How to Back Up Save Data: Steam, Xbox, and Servers walks through the folder paths on each platform. For co-op and dedicated hosting in general, Palworld Multiplayer Guide: Co-op, Crossplay, and Servers is the one to read.

Known Issues at Launch

Two problems shipped with the patch. The first was the monitoring stand defaulting to relax mode on existing bases, which you fixed manually. The second was worse: hatched Pals always came out carrying their innate passives, so a species with a bad one was stuck with it no matter how carefully you bred the parents. Legendary Pals always got Legend, which sounds like a gift until you realise it was occupying a passive slot you might have wanted for something else. That one was hotfixed in 0.1.5.1 on February 29, two days later.

Only 46 of the game's 288 Pals carry innate passives at all, so the bug had a narrow but painful blast radius. On the bad end, Cattiva is born with Coward at −10% Shot Attack. On the good end, six Pals carry Legend, worth +20% Attack, +20% Defense and +20% Movement Speed:

PalRaritySecond innate passive
Jetragon20Dragon element boost
Frostallion20Ice element boost
Frostallion Noct20Dark element boost
Paladius20Neutral element boost
Necromus20Dark element boost
Neptilius20Nushi

Inheritance rules have been reworked several times since, and how passives actually pass to an egg now is laid out in How Breeding Works: Combi Ranks, Unique Combos, and Inheritance. If you are chasing a perfect worker or fighter, How to Min-Max Pals: IVs, Passives, Souls, and Condensing is the deeper version.

TipIf you ever load an old save from around this era, check your Monitoring Stand first. A base that looks dead — everyone moving at half pace, nothing finishing — is almost always the relax setting this patch introduced rather than a broken save. Set the work style back to normal and the base wakes up.

Does 0.1.5.0 Still Matter?

As a patch to install, no — it is long buried under everything since. As a piece of the game's shape, yes. The SAN systems you manage today were tuned here, Digtoise became the ore mount in this patch and has stayed one, Anubis has prioritised handiwork ever since, and the condenser economy that ranking Pals up depends on got its first real correction. If you want the full run of versions in order, Palworld Patch Notes: All Updates and Version History tracks every one.
