How to Get the Large Power Generator: Cost and Best Pals
Everything the Large Power Generator costs in Palworld: technology level 50 and 4 Ancient Technology Points, the 200 Pal Metal Ingot and 200 Electric Organ bill broken down into raw ore, the 25 Pals that can fill its two worker slots, and how it stacks up against the Power Generator and the Ancient Power Generator.

The Large Power Generator is the mid-game step up from one Electric Pal on a generator to two, and it is the only unlock on the whole level 50 technology row that charges you Ancient Technology Points instead of the ordinary kind. This guide covers the 4-point unlock, the 200 Pal Metal Ingot and 200 Electric Organ build cost broken down into raw ore, the 25 Pals that can staff it, the best ones to actually put in the slots, and how it measures up against the three other generators in the game.
Large Power Generator at a Glance
It lives in the Infrastructure tab of the build menu, one row down from the Power Generator you unlocked at level 26. Two numbers tell you what kind of project this is. The build carries a 500,000 workload — ten times the ordinary Power Generator's 50,000, and half of what the Ancient Power Generator demands. The staffing bar is the friendly part: it only asks for Generating Electricity Lv. 1, exactly the same as the basic generator, so all 25 Pals with the suitability qualify. What you are really buying is the second worker slot.

How to Unlock the Large Power Generator
Hit character level 50, open the Palworld Technology Tree and spend 4 points — but check which pile they come out of first. The level 50 row holds seven unlocks, and six of them are ordinary technologies that share 15 normal points between them. The Large Power Generator is the odd one out: it is an Ancient technology, so its 4 points come from the Ancient Technology Point pool that 51 unlocks across the tree are all fighting over. You do not earn those by levelling. Tower bosses are the main supply — our map marks 8 of them — and Ancient Technology Books out of dungeon boss chests top you up between fights.
| Level 50 technology | Point cost | Currency | Worth taking first? |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4 | Ancient | Yes if your base is already power-starved — nothing else on the row fixes that | |
| 5 | Normal | Only if you are living in the snowfields | |
| 2 | Normal | Yes — it is the front door to the Plasteel line | |
| 3 | Normal | Base defence only, and it eats a Handiwork Pal | |
| 2 | Normal | Yes — half the level 50+ machines want one | |
| 2 | Normal | Take it right after the extractor, not before | |
| 1 | Normal | Cosmetic — grab it whenever |
The awkward part is the neighbours. Ancient points get asked for again at level 46 for the Sulfur Quarry (5), level 48 for the Large Incubator (5), level 49 for the last Grappling Gun (4), level 51 for the High-Pressure Crude Oil Extractor (4) and level 52 for the Pure Quartz Quarry (5) — six Ancient buys inside seven levels. If you are choosing between them, the Pure Quartz Quarry has a real claim, because Pure Quartz is the material that gates the very ingot this generator is built from. Buy the quarry and the generator gets cheaper to feed; buy the generator first and you will be walking to snowfield nodes for the quartz.
Before you spend anything, the checklist for actually being able to finish the build:
- Character level 50 and 4 Ancient Technology Points banked
- The Electric Furnace at Tech Lv 44 — the earlier furnaces flat out refuse to smelt Pal Metal Ingot
- An existing Power Generator running, because the Electric Furnace needs electricity to work at all
- 800 Ore, 200 Pure Quartz and 400 Paldium Fragment for the ingots
- 200 Electric Organ, or roughly 60,000 Gold if you would rather buy the lot
Large Power Generator Materials
Two lines on the build screen, 400 items total, and they could not be more different in effort. The 200 Electric Organ is the line you can simply pay for — every Electric Pal in the game drops it and several shops stock it. The 200 Pal Metal Ingot is the wall: each bar carries a 50,000 crafting workload, so the ingots alone are 10,000,000 workload before the structure's own 500,000 even starts. Treat this as a multi-session build and start the furnace queue running well before you hit level 50.
| Material | Qty | How it is made or found | Merchant value each |
|---|---|---|---|
| 200 | Smelted at the Electric Furnace: 4 Ore + 1 Pure Quartz + 2 Paldium Fragment per bar | 1,250 Gold | |
| 200 | 100% drop from 23 different Electric Pals, or off a Caravan, Village or Dungeon shop shelf | 300 Gold |
Farming 200 Pal Metal Ingot
Multiply the recipe out and the real shopping list is 800 Ore, 200 Pure Quartz and 400 Paldium Fragment. Ore and Paldium you have been tripping over since the starting plateau, and both are trivial to automate with a base built on a node cluster. Pure Quartz is the one that hurts — it is a snowfield material, there are fewer nodes than either of the others, and exactly one Pal in the entire Paldeck drops it. If you have not put a base on a quartz patch yet, this is the build that will convince you to.
| Raw material | Total needed | Nodes on the map | Best Pal drop |
|---|---|---|---|
| 800 | 1,632 — open the Ore layer | Pierdon at 4-5 per kill, 100% | |
| 200 | 607 — open the Pure Quartz layer | Pierdon Cryst at 4-5 per kill, 100% — the only Pal that drops it, across 50 spawn spots | |
| 400 | 711 Paldium Ore nodes — open the Paldium layer | Also 70 Gold each from a Wandering Trader |
Farming 200 Electric Organ
Every one of the 23 Pals that drops Electric Organ drops it at a 100% rate, so the only thing that matters is how many you get per kill and how easy the Pal is to find. Prixter Lux is the clear winner on payout at 4-5 organs a kill, but it only has 35 spawn spots. Penking Lux pays less per kill and makes it back on sheer volume with 252 spots. And if you would rather not farm at all, the shops sell organs at 300 Gold each — 60,000 Gold clears the whole requirement in one trip, which is a genuinely reasonable trade by level 50.
| Pal | Organs per kill | Spawn spots | Why farm this one |
|---|---|---|---|
Prixter Lux | 4-5 | 35 | Best payout in the game — roughly 45 kills clears all 200 |
Grizzbolt | 2-4 | 40 | Has an Alpha at level 30, and it is a Lv 5 generator Pal you want anyway |
Relaxaurus Lux | 2-3 | 17 | Fewest spots of the good droppers, but they cluster tightly |
Azurmane | 2-3 | 112 | Good rate and easy to find, with an Alpha at level 66 |
Penking Lux | 1-3 | 252 | The volume option — more spawn spots than anything else on this list |
Helzephyr Lux | 1-3 | 80 | Night flyer, easy to catch in bulk with a mount |
Best Pals for the Large Power Generator
Because the rank requirement is only Lv. 1, every Electric Pal you own is technically eligible — but the suitability level decides how fast the power bar fills, so the two slots should go to the highest numbers you can catch or breed. Orserk is the only Lv. 8 Generating Electricity Pal in the game and is the correct answer for slot one, no argument. Slot two is more interesting: Grizzbolt at Lv. 5 also carries Transporting 5, Handiwork 4 and Lumbering 3, so it keeps working when the generator is idle, while Azurmane at the same Lv. 5 has no other suitability at all and will never wander off to do something else. Pick Grizzbolt for a small base, Azurmane for a dedicated power base.
| Pal | Generating Electricity | Other work suitabilities | Spawn spots | Why it works |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Orserk | Lv. 8 | Transporting 4, Handiwork 3 | 33 | The single highest electricity rating in the game — nothing else reaches Lv. 8 |
Dynamoff | Lv. 6 | Gathering 3, Transporting 3 | 26 | Second-best rating, and one of only three Pals that will later clear the Ancient generator's Lv. 6 gate |
Solmora Lux | Lv. 6 | Watering 4 | 251 | Same Lv. 6 rating with ten times Dynamoff's spawn spots, and the Watering doubles for the Ancient generator later |
Grizzbolt | Lv. 5 | Transporting 5, Handiwork 4, Lumbering 3 | 40 | The most useful all-rounder here — it earns its base slot even when the generator is full |
Azurmane | Lv. 5 | None | 112 | Zero other suitabilities means it never gets distracted by another job |
Fenglope Lux | Lv. 5 | Lumbering 4 | 258 | By far the easiest Lv. 5 to find — the most spawn spots of any high-rank option |
Beakon | Lv. 4 | Transporting 5, Gathering 2 | 504 | The budget pick: more spawn spots than any other electricity Pal |
Sparkit | Lv. 1 | None | 45 | Proof the requirement really is Lv. 1 — it works, just slowly |
Two of these are worth catching with the endgame in mind. Solmora Lux and Dynamoff are two of the only three Pals that clear the Ancient Power Generator's Lv. 6 requirement 25 levels later, and Solmora Lux's Watering 4 is exactly what that generator needs to stop it overheating. Catch them now and you are staffing two generators with one trip. Orserk is the third, and if you are breeding rather than hunting for it, Orserk only comes from an Orserk pair — there is no shortcut combo.
Large Power Generator vs Every Other Generator
There are four ways to make electricity in Palworld and they land in a clean line. The Human-Powered Generator is the emergency option that any small Pal can run and that costs almost nothing to build. The Power Generator is the real starting point at level 26. The Large Power Generator is the mid-game doubling — same Lv. 1 staffing requirement, two slots instead of one — and the Ancient Power Generator is the endgame version that locks itself behind a Lv. 6 rating only three Pals in the game can meet. The important read here is that the Large one is the only upgrade that costs you nothing in staffing difficulty.
| Generator | Tech Lv | Point cost | Materials | Build workload | Slots | Work required |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 26 | 1 normal | 5 Wooden Board, 5 Electric Organ | 5,000 | 1 | Anyone Lv. 1 (small Pals only) | |
| 26 | 3 normal | 50 Ingot, 20 Electric Organ | 50,000 | 1 | Electricity Lv. 1 | |
| 50 | 4 Ancient | 200 Pal Metal Ingot, 200 Electric Organ | 500,000 | 2 | Electricity Lv. 1 | |
| 75 | 5 normal | 100 Paloxite Ingot, 200 Electric Organ, 10 Ancient Civilization Core | 1,000,000 | 2 | Electricity Lv. 6 + a Watering Pal on standby | |
| Point currency | — | — | Only the Large one spends Ancient points | — | — | — |
Read the workload column as a build schedule rather than a stat: 500,000 is ten times the Power Generator and it is all going through your Handiwork Pals, so the structure itself takes a real chunk of an evening even after the ingots are done. What you get back is the second slot, and that is the whole pitch — one Large Power Generator with Orserk and Grizzbolt in it replaces two ordinary generators and the two Pal slots they were eating, which is the actual constraint on a level 50 base.
Placement and Base Tips
It has to sit inside your Palbox radius like every other power source, and there is no cap on how many you place, so a dedicated power base is perfectly legal if you have the ingots for it. The build is far tougher than the one it replaces — 100,000 HP against the Power Generator's 10,000 — which matters more than it sounds when a raid wave or a base invasion comes through and starts chewing on your infrastructure. Defence sits at 4, the same as the standard generator, so the survivability all comes from that HP pool.
A few things worth knowing before you rearrange the base around it:
- Do not dismantle your last ordinary Power Generator. The base level 11 checklist asks for that exact structure, and a Large one is a different entry
- Workers drain SAN at the same rate as the standard generator, so the usual fixes apply — a hot spring and decent food keep the pair in the slots
- Two slots means two Pals permanently committed, so check your base work assignments before you build a second one
- Electric Organ is the only material shared with the Ancient Power Generator, and that one wants 200 as well — if you are farming organs anyway, farm 400
