Cold Resistant Metal Armor Schematic Location and Stats — Palworld Database

Cold Resistant Metal Armor is the Technology Lv 27 body slot that carries most players through their first proper trip into the Snowfields — 105 defence, 250 HP and Cold 2 on a frame built out of the plain Metal Armor you already own. This guide has the full stat card, every source of the Legendary schematic (no Pal drops it, and there's a routing quirk that catches people out), all four supply-drop percentages, and what 8 Ice Organ plus 40 Ingots actually costs you.

Cold Resistant Metal Armor Stats

105 defence is the headline, and it's +35 over the plain Metal Armor for the same 250 HP and the same 30 weight. The stat people underrate is durability: 700 on the base version, 1,400 here. At Tech 27 you are still smelting Ingots one furnace at a time, so halving your repair trips matters more than it will at any later tier. On top of that it stacks the fullest cold package in the early game — Cold 2, a spare Heat 1 for the trip out, and an Ice damage reduction that neither the Tundra Outfit nor the Cold Resistant Pelt Armor below it carries.

Defence is only meaningful next to other armor, so read 105 against the body slot and not against any weapon's attack number. Inside its own class it's third from the bottom of the eight cold armors, sitting a long way above the 45-defence Pelt Armor and well short of Cold Resistant Refined Metal Armor at 180. Its twin is Heat Resistant Metal Armor — an identical 105/250/1,400 line with Heat 2 instead of Cold 2, unlocking two levels earlier at Tech 25. Build the one that matches where you're going next; there's almost never a reason to own both.

Where the Legendary Schematic Drops

Start with the fact that reshapes everything else on this page: no Pal in the game drops this schematic. Not an Alpha, not a tower boss, not a raid. All four tiers come out of the same background pool — supply drops, chests, enemy camps and fishing spots — and the supply drop is the only source with a published number, where the Legendary sits at 0.04%, or roughly one roll in 2,500.

SchematicCraftsForest supply dropTreasure mapsChests, camps, fishing
Schematic 1Uncommon5.23%NeverYes
Schematic 2Rare1.05%NeverYes
Schematic 3Epic0.21%NeverYes
Schematic 4Legendary0.04%NeverYes

Two things in that table change how you farm. The rate collapses by about a fifth every step — 5.23% down to 0.04% — so the top row is ordinary loot and the bottom row is something that happens to somebody else. And that Never column is real and it's specific to this armor: the plain Metal Armor and Heat Resistant Metal Armor schematics both turn up in tier 1 treasure map digs, and the cold version turns up in none of them, at any tier. Digging maps for this one is wasted effort. Every schematic in the game shows up as a rolled scroll in your bag, so the four icons above are each tier's own art and the rarity border is the only quick way to tell them apart.

Forest Supply Drops — the Only Published Rate

This line appears in exactly one of the eight regional supply tables, and it's the Forest. Not the Snowfields, which is the entire reason you want cold armor in the first place. Players camp Snowfields supply drops waiting on gear that keeps them warm and never see this schematic, because the drop carrying it lands back in the starting woods. It's the single most common mistake made on this item.

Treat Forest drops as a feeder, not a jackpot. At 5.23% the Schematic 1 is one of the more generous things in that pool, and you'll accumulate Uncommons and Rares just by grabbing pods as you pass through on other errands. Waiting out a 0.04% roll is not a plan you can act on. The full loot pool for all eight regions is on the Palworld supply drops page.

Chests, Camps and Fishing Spots

The background pool is wide but geographically stubborn: chests in three regions, enemy camps in the same three split between ordinary loot and boss stashes, and fishing spots in all three. Forest, Desert and Mount Obsidian is the entire map for this schematic — the Snowfields, where the armor is actually useful, never drops it, and neither does Sakurajima or anywhere past it. All four rarities share the identical source list, so nothing below is Legendary-only.

Snowfields (any source)None178 chests, none of them this

Enemy camp boss stashes are the row worth building a route around. Camp bosses carry all four tiers across three separate regions, and there are only 58 camps on the whole map — that's a far denser loop than picking through 247 Forest chests one at a time, and camps pay Gold and ammo on the same circuit. The Desert is a partial exception worth knowing: its camps only drop this schematic from the boss stash, not from ordinary camp loot, so clear the boss there rather than looting crates. Fishing is the lazy option — leave a rod at a Forest or Desert spot while you do something else and it rolls the same table. The fishing database has every catch, and the Palworld Fishing Guide covers which rods and bait pay for themselves.

No Pal Drops This One — but One Cold Armor Schematic Does

Only five armor schematics in the entire game come off a Pal, every one of them at the Legendary tier and every one at a flat 3%. Cold Resistant Metal Armor isn't among them — but the cold ladder is not shut out, because the tier directly above it is. Kill Menasting and you can walk away with the Legendary Cold Resistant Refined Metal Armor schematic, which is the better armor anyway.

A 3% repeatable kill is about 75 times the Forest supply-drop rate, and unlike a chest you can go back and do it again. Alpha Menasting is level 44 with 130 base defence, 100 melee attack and only 100 base HP — a tanky-looking Pal that dies fast if you actually out-damage it. It's Dark/Ground, so Dragon and Grass both hit it for extra, and a Grass mount handles the whole fight. That does mean waiting seventeen levels past the Tech 27 armor, which is the honest trade-off here: the schematic you can farm is for gear you can't build yet. Menasting's Alpha pin is on the map, and every Alpha Pal and its level is on the Alpha database. If you want a Legendary you can use *today*, Kingpaca at level 23 drops the plain Metal Armor version at the same 3%.

Build It Instead: The Drafting Table Route

The Drafting Table merges five identical schematics into one of the next rarity up, and this line has every rung present with no gaps. The problem is timing, and on cold armor it's the worst of the three Metal Armor variants: the armor unlocks at Tech Lv 27, the table at Tech Lv 45. That's eighteen levels of hoarding scrolls you have no way to combine, and by the time the table exists you're already looking at Pal Metal gear.

TargetCombine costEquivalent in Schematic 1s
Schematic 2Schematic 15
Schematic 3Schematic 225
Schematic 4 (Legendary)Schematic 3125

125 Schematic 1s is the paper worst case, and at 5.23% that works out to roughly 2,400 Forest supply drops for a single Legendary. Nobody should pay that for Tech 27 armor. Combine only at the top of the ladder — sit on Schematic 3s until you're holding five of them — and resist burning Uncommons the moment the table lets you, because those are exactly the rolls you'll wish you still had when a lucky Epic lands and you're one short. The table itself costs 20 Refined Ingot, 10 High Quality Wooden Board and 30 Charcoal; the schematic upgrade guide has the full rules.

TipCraft the Common version the day you hit Tech 27 instead of waiting on a rarity roll. Every tier of this armor grants the identical Cold 2 protection — rarity only moves defence, HP and durability, never the temperature resistance — so a Common suit you're wearing in the Snowfields tonight beats a Legendary schematic you will never see. And if the cold is your only problem rather than the things living in it, the Thermal Undershirt gives Cold 3 on its own for 2 weight, which frees your body slot for whatever has the biggest defence number.

How to Craft Cold Resistant Metal Armor

Whichever schematic tier you're holding, the base recipe is four materials on the High-Quality Workbench for 40,000 work. Nothing in it is gated behind an endgame unlock — no Refined Ingots, no Ancient parts, no Sakurajima ore. If your base is smelting Ingots and you've killed a few Ice Pals, this is a tonight job.

MaterialQtyMade at / from
Ingot40Primitive Furnace (Tech Lv 10) — 2 Ore each
Leather13Pal drops — Mammorest pays 5-10 at 100%
Cloth8Primitive Workbench — 2 Wool each
Ice Organ8Ice Pal drops — table below

Trace all four lines down to things you pick up off the ground or off a corpse and one suit comes to 117 raw units. The 80 Ore is the only line that needs planning — it's the reason a mining base parked on a dense node cluster pays for itself at this stage. Everything else a working base produces in the background while you're out hunting.

Raw materialTotal for one suitWhere to get it
Ore801,632 nodes
Leather13Mammorest or Mammorest Cryst, 5-10 per kill at 100%
Wool16Kingpaca 5 · Sweepa 3-5 · Melpaca 2-5 · Snugloo 2, all 100%
Ice Organ832 different Ice Pals at 100% — see below

Here's the convenient part, and it's specific to the cold version: three of those four lines come off Pals you're already killing for the fourth. Mammorest Cryst pays the same 5-10 Leather as its Grass cousin, Snugloo hands over Wool, and both sit in the same cold-country hunting trip as your Ice Organ targets — so one loop covers Leather, Wool and organs together. For comparison, the plain Metal Armor four tech levels below costs 30 Ingots, 10 Leather and 5 Cloth for 20,000 work — 80 raw units and half the crafting time. The cold version is about 45% more expensive plus 8 Ice Organs, and buys +35 defence, double the durability and the Cold 2 that makes the region survivable.

Fastest Ice Organ Farm

Eight Ice Organs is one short trip, not a project. All 32 Ice Pals that carry them drop at 100%, so the only variable is how many per kill. Frostallion is the outlier at a flat 10 every time — one kill covers a whole suit with two spare — but it's a level 60 Alpha and completely out of reach at Tech 27. At that stage Foxcicle and Reindrix are the sensible picks, and three or four of either finishes the job.

[[pal:KingAlpaca_Ice|Kingpaca Cryst]] is the row to remember, even though it's a level 46 Alpha you can't touch yet: it drops 3-6 Ice Organ *and* 5 Wool, covering two of this recipe's four lines from one kill. Until then, stack your errands — run the Forest camp circuit for schematic rolls, then clear Ice Pals on the way home for organs, and you'll have banked scrolls and materials on one trip. Every material's full drop table is on the Palworld items database.

Can You Even Build It Yet?

Technology Lv 27 is the headline gate, but three supporting nodes sit underneath it, each with its own level. Work down this list before you go schematic hunting — a Legendary scroll in your bag does exactly nothing until the bench and the Ingots exist to use it. The good news is this is one of the cheapest armor checklists in the game: everything below is an ordinary Technology Point and none of it needs an Ancient one.

Cold Resistant Metal ArmorTech Lv 27, 2 pointsThe recipe itself
Drafting TableTech Lv 45, 4 pointsCombining schematics upward — eighteen levels after the armor

Four Technology Points across Lv 23 and Lv 27 buys the armor and its base together, which is pocket change. The row that bites is the last one: you'll be collecting schematics for eighteen levels before you can combine a single one, and by Tech 45 you're two armor tiers past caring. That gap is the strongest argument for building the Common version the moment it unlocks and treating any rarity roll as a bonus. The whole tree is laid out on the Palworld technology page.

How It Compares to Every Other Cold Armor

Eight body armors carry cold resistance, forming a clean ladder from Tech Lv 9 to Tech Lv 77. Cold Resistant Metal Armor sits third from the bottom and it opens the longest gap on that ladder — from Tech 27 the next cold armor is fourteen levels away at Tech 41, which is exactly why so many players are still wearing 105 defence deep into the Snowfields.

Read the last column before the first one. Everything from the Tundra Outfit at Tech 9 up to Plasteel at Tech 54 gives the identical Cold 2 protection — only Hexolite and Ancient Armor reach Cold 3. Climbing this ladder never makes you warmer, it only makes you harder to kill while you're cold. If the weather is your entire problem, the Tundra Outfit solves it at Tech 9 for 4 weight. If the things living in the snow are the problem, that's where 105 defence and 1,400 durability start justifying their 30 weight. Every armor piece in the game is compared on the armor database.

What a Legendary Version Actually Gains

Rarity raises the crafted armor's numbers, and the plain Metal Armor line is the one whose five rarity steps are all spelled out in-game at this tier. It climbs 70 → 91 → 98 → 105 → 112 defence, which is exactly ×1.3, ×1.4, ×1.5 and ×1.6 of base, with the HP bonus following the same four multipliers from 250 up to 400. Each step also adds an accuracy bonus the Common version doesn't have, and the top two steps fold Ancient Civilization Parts into the recipe.

RarityPlain Metal ArmorHPDurabilityExtra recipe costCold version (estimated)
Common70250700105
Uncommon913251,800~137
Rare983502,200~147
Epic1053752,6001 Ancient Civilization Parts~158
Legendary1124003,0002 Ancient Civilization Parts~168

Pocketpair has never published the per-rarity multipliers, so treat that right-hand column as the plain line's own curve applied to 105 — close estimates, not measured numbers. 105 is the only figure in that column that's certain. The shape isn't in doubt though: a Legendary lands roughly 60% above the Common, the HP bonus climbs to 400, and the recipe grows to 60 Ingots, 20 Leather and 10 Cloth plus 2 Ancient Civilization Parts, with the work cost ballooning from 20,000 to 640,000.

At an estimated ~168 defence, a Legendary Cold Resistant Metal Armor at Tech Lv 27 would out-armor the Common Refined Metal Armor at 150 — a full ten tech levels of progression skipped — and land just under Cold Resistant Refined Metal Armor at 180. That's a genuinely strong pitch. It's also why the Legendary plain Metal Armor at 112 defence is worth a serious look instead: it's only 7 points behind a *Common* cold suit, its schematic drops off Alpha Kingpaca at 3% rather than 0.04%, and a Cold 3 undershirt covers the temperature gap for 2 weight.

The Short Answer

No Pal drops the Legendary Cold Resistant Metal Armor schematic, and no treasure map digs it up either. Your only sources are Forest supply drops at 0.04%, chests, enemy camps and fishing spots across the Forest, Desert and Mount Obsidian — never the Snowfields — and the Drafting Table at Tech Lv 45, eighteen levels after the armor unlocks. So build the Common version the moment you hit Tech Lv 27: 80 Ore, 13 Leather, 16 Wool and 8 Ice Organ on the High-Quality Workbench gets you 105 defence, 250 HP and 1,400 durability with Cold 2, Heat 1 and an Ice cut. If you want a Legendary cold suit you can actually farm, take Menasting at level 44 for the Cold Resistant Refined Metal Armor schematic at a flat 3% and skip this tier entirely.
