How to Get the Ancient Pal Bed: Level 73 and Materials

The Ancient Pal Bed is the last bed in the technology tree, unlocking at level 73 for 3 technology points, and it is what your base Pals should be sleeping on once you can afford it. This guide covers the unlock, all three materials and where each one comes from, what the whole build really costs in raw ore, and how it stacks up against the Pal Pod and every other bed in the game.

Ancient Pal Bed at a Glance

Six beds exist across 480 buildable structures, and this is the one at the top of the ladder. It is the toughest of the lot at 8,000 durability and 4 defense — every other Pal bed caps at 5,000 and 3 — and the game describes its SAN recovery as one of the highest of any Pal bed. It also keeps the Large Pal Bed footprint, so oversized Pals still fit on it, which is the thing the Pal Pod quietly gives up. The catch is the bill: 100,000 build workload, double what the Pal Pod asks, and materials that only exist in two late-game regions.

How to Unlock the Ancient Pal Bed

Hit character level 73, open the Palworld technology tree and spend 3 points. That is the cheapest of the five things level 73 unlocks — the Ancient Clinic and Gold Coin Assembly Line want 4 apiece, Bastigor's Hammer another 4, and the Laser Sword a full 5, so clearing the whole level costs 20 points. Unlocking it is not the hard part, though. Every material comes from somewhere you have to travel to, and the Soralite Ingot line is gated behind a furnace you should already own by then.

Ancient Pal Bed Materials and Where to Get Them

Three lines, and the first one is basically the whole cost. The ten Soralite Ingots are worth 72,000 gold of the bed's roughly 85,000 total, and they unpack into 20 Soralite and 20 Pure Quartz plus 7,000,000 crafting workload in the furnace — seventy times the bed's own 100,000 build workload. The Holy Water and Mythical Wood are almost free by comparison, but they are region-locked, so plan one World Tree trip rather than two.

Soralite Ingot ×10

Two Soralite and two Pure Quartz per bar at the Ancient Furnace, 700,000 workload each. Soralite is the bottleneck: there are only 226 Soralite nodes on the whole map and all of them sit in Sunreach, against 607 Pure Quartz nodes scattered through the snowfields. Mining is not the only route — Jetragon hands over 10 Soralite per kill at 100%, and Pierdon Cryst drops 4–5 Soralite and 4–5 Pure Quartz, both guaranteed, which makes it the single most efficient thing to farm for this recipe.

If you would rather not fly the route at all, send Pals instead: the Sunreach Isle expedition returns 30–50 Soralite on a 60-minute Hard run, the 120-minute Sunreach Dragon Husk run adds 10–20, and Astral Frost Cavern brings back 20–40 Pure Quartz in an hour. Two expedition cycles cover a bed with ore to spare. Supply drops landing in Sunreach Isle also carry 30–40 Soralite every time one appears.

World Tree Holy Water ×2

The cheapest line on the sheet, and you probably already have it. Field pickups scattered around the World Tree hand over 5–10 at a time, so a single grab covers multiple beds, and there are 690 loot caches and 38 chests marked in the tree region to walk. Killing works too — more than 50 different Pals drop 1–3 at a 50% chance — and these are the ones with the widest spawn coverage if you want to farm it deliberately.

Mythical Wood ×3

This is the one that trips people up, because no Pal in the game drops Mythical Wood. It comes out of the World Tree's field pickups — a bit under a fifth of them carry it, 1–5 at a time — or out of recycled Ancient Relics. The awkward part is that the Ancient Relic Recycler sits at technology level 74, one level above the bed, and costs 50 Mythical Wood to build in the first place. So the first Ancient Pal Bed you make is always paid for by walking the tree, not by recycling.

Once the recycler is standing, one Glistening Ancient Relic is three beds' worth of wood on its own, and the higher relic grades are what make kitting out an entire base painless. Every Pal Bed Compared

Pal beds are a straight five-step ladder and each rung improves how much health and SAN a Pal gets back overnight. The two that actually matter are the Large Pal Bed at level 36, because it is the first one big Pals can use and it is made of Fiber and Nails, and this one at 73. The Pal Pod in between is the awkward middle child: it costs 5 technology points, more than any other bed, for the same 5,000 durability and 50,000 workload as the Large Pal Bed a level tier earlier. If you are close to 73 already, skip the Pod and put those points elsewhere.

Pocketpair has never published the exact SAN-per-night numbers for each bed, so treat the ordering rather than any figure as the reliable part: every step up the ladder restores more, and the Ancient Pal Bed is the top of it. The durability column is worth a second look if you play with base raids on — 8,000 HP and 4 Defense is a meaningful buffer over the 5,000 and 3 that everything else offers, and rebuilding a bed made of Soralite Ingots is not something you want to do twice.

Is the Ancient Pal Bed Worth Building?

Yes, but not urgently, and not one at a time. A Pal with drained SAN works slower, eats more and eventually stops working entirely, so bed quality compounds across every worker in the base — which means the upgrade only pays off properly when you replace the whole row at once. At 10 Soralite Ingots each, kitting out a full base is 200 raw Soralite and 200 Pure Quartz for twenty Pals, so batch the smelting before you touch the build menu.

Skip it if you are still short of level 73 or still mining Soralite by hand. The Large Pal Bed at level 36 costs Fiber and Nails, fits large Pals, and holds a base together perfectly well until Sunreach is a routine trip. There is no point burning end-game ore on furniture while your gear is still behind.

Build These Alongside It

A better bed only fixes SAN overnight. The rest of the late-game SAN kit works during the day, and all of it clusters within a few levels of the bed, so budget your technology points across the group rather than spending them one at a time. The Ancient Monitoring Stand is the standout — it slows how fast working Pals lose SAN in the first place, which is worth more than any amount of overnight recovery.

If you cannot afford all four, the order that helps a struggling base fastest is Monitoring Stand, then beds, then a hot spring. The Japanese-Style Hot Spring at level 64 is a solid stopgap while you save for the Ancient version, and feeding your workers properly matters just as much — see the best food for SAN and hunger for the meals that carry a base.
