How to Farm Dog Coins: Best Sources and Medal Shop Prices
Every Dog Coin source in Palworld ranked — Mimog's guaranteed 170-250 a kill, base raids paying up to 300, junk haul and oil rig rates, plus the full 37-item Medal Shop stock list with prices.

Dog Coins are Palworld's second currency, and no amount of gold substitutes for them — permanent stat elixirs, your two extra accessory slots, all twelve Applied Handbooks and both Legendary spear schematics sit behind one shop that only takes coins. This guide ranks every source by what it actually pays, gives the exact numbers for Mimog hunts, base raids and water runs, and lists the full Medal Shop stock so you know what you are saving toward.
Dog Coins at a Glance
A Dog Coin weighs nothing and stacks to 9,999, so there is never a reason to leave one behind or dump a stack to make room. The one thing you should not do with them is sell them: a Dog Coin is worth 10 Gold at a normal trader, which means a full Mimog haul cashes out at around 2,000 Gold — pocket change next to a Mysterious Accessory Box you cannot buy anywhere else in the game.

Every Dog Coin Source, Ranked
Two things pay in the hundreds and everything else pays in the tens. Base raids top the chart on raw numbers, but you do not choose when a raid shows up, so the source that actually fills your wallet is Mimog — it is the only entry here you can go and farm on purpose. Treat the rest as income you collect while doing something else: fishing, salvaging and chest routes all pay coins on the side, and the rates below are per pull or per container, not per hour.
| Source | Dog Coins | Why it ranks here |
|---|---|---|
| Base raid — Lv 61-80 tier | 200-300 | Guaranteed on every win, plus a Training Crystal. The catch: 30-72 attackers over 3-5 waves |
| Counterfeit Investigations raid | 200-300 | The same endgame payout at any base grade — but 35 Lv 80 PIDF troops turn up to collect |
Mimog — defeat or catch | 170-250 | The only source you can farm on demand, and it pays 8,500-11,000 Gold on the same body |
| Base raid — Lv 41-60 tier | 80-140 | The mid-game tier where raid income starts to matter |
| Sealed chests — Sky Island, World Tree | 20-30 | Best per-container rate outside a raid, and the chests are marked on the map |
| Junk hauls — World Tree water | 22-26 | Highest fishing rate in the game, with no unlock standing in front of it |
| Oil rig crates — large rig | 16-20 | Volume: a rig run is a lot of crates in one trip |
| Salvaging — rank 2 wreck | 10-20 | Coins are the side dish; the Legendary schematics are why you go |
| Dog Coin nodes | Free pickups | 128 nodes scattered across the islands — every Dog Coin node on the map |
Hunt Mimog: 170-250 Coins Per Kill
Mimog is the chest that bites back, and it is the closest thing to a Dog Coin vending machine. Every one you defeat or catch hands over 170-250 Dog Coins, 8,500-11,000 Gold and a Training Manual (XL) — all three at 100%, no rare roll and no rate to gamble on. It turns up as a rare filler spawn across 5,302 spawn points, which means there is a cluster near wherever you built; pull up the Mimog spawn map and plan a loop rather than hoping to bump into one.
| Mimog | Number | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Element | Neutral | No weakness to play around — bring whatever hits hardest |
| HP | 60 | Tied for the lowest HP of all 288 Pals. One good burst ends it |
| Defense | 130 | Irrelevant at 60 HP |
| Run speed | 2,000 | Second fastest runner in the game behind Panthalus at 3,000, against a 550 median |
| Capture rate | 0.8 | The single lowest capture rate in the Paldeck — spheres are the slow way to do this |
| Spawn points | 5,302 | Mapped here — day and night, no time restriction |
| Drops | 170-250 Dog Coins | 100%, plus 8,500-11,000 Gold and 1 Training Manual (XL) |
The whole fight is a chase. Mimog bolts the moment it notices you and it runs at 2,000, so anything slower than that never catches it — and only four mounts in the game sprint faster. Open from range instead: 60 HP is the joint-lowest health pool in the Paldeck, so a single heavy hit from a rifle or a big Neutral skill usually deletes it before it finishes turning around. Do not bring it back to a butcher expecting more coins, either — Dog Coins are the one drop butchering will never give you.
| Mount | Sprint speed | Saddle tech level |
|---|---|---|
Jetragon | 3,300 | 79 |
Shaolong | 2,800 | 77 |
Eidrolon | 2,750 | 68 |
Eidrolon Ignis | 2,750 | 76 |
Those are the only four mounts that beat Mimog's 2,000 run speed — the next fastest rides sprint at 1,900, which is close enough to lose a chase over rough ground. Full numbers for every ride are on the Palworld mount speed rankings.
Let Base Raids Come to You
Every single base raid in the game pays Dog Coins at 100%, and the amount scales with your base grade rather than with what you kill. That makes raids the one income stream that grows without you doing anything differently: an early Syndicate Patrol is worth 10-20 coins, while the endgame tier hands over 200-300 for a fight you were going to have anyway. Build the defences, keep a strong team on base duty, and stop treating raids as an interruption. Every attacker roster is on the Palworld base raids page.
| Raid tier | Waves | Attackers | Dog Coins | Also drops | XP |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Lv 1-10 | 1 | 6 | 10-20 | 120 | |
| Lv 11-20 | 2 | 9-10 | 20-35 | 1,020 | |
| Lv 21-40 | 3 | 11-21 | 40-70 | 5,575 | |
| Lv 41-60 | 3-4 | 24-46 | 80-140 | 25,350 | |
| Lv 61-80 | 3-5 | 30-72 | 200-300 | 106,470 | |
| Counterfeit Investigations | 3 | 35 | 200-300 | 106,470 |
Counterfeit Investigations is the odd one out and the one to know about. It is flagged for base grades 1 through 80, so it can land on a low-level camp, and it always arrives the same way: 35 PIDF troops at level 80 across three waves, including Rocketeers and Interceptors in the final push. Win it and you get full endgame pay — 200-300 Dog Coins, a Training Crystal and 106,470 XP — from a base that has no business surviving it. If your defences are thin, the safe play is to be standing at the base with your best team out when it triggers rather than letting the turrets try.
Fish, Salvage and Loot the Rigs
Water is the passive layer of the Dog Coin economy, and the rates scale with how dangerous the region is rather than with any gear you bring. Junk hauls — the debris you reel in while fishing — run from a miserable 2-8 in the Grasslands up to 22-26 in the World Tree water, and none of that needs an unlock, which makes late-region fishing the best low-effort coin rate in the game. Salvaging and oil rig crates pay less per container but come bundled with Coralum Ore and schematics, so run them for the loot and bank the coins as a bonus.
| Water source | Dog Coins per pull |
|---|---|
| Junk hauls — World Tree | 22-26 |
| Junk hauls — Dark Island | 18-22 |
| Junk hauls — Sky Island | 18-22 |
| Junk hauls — Sakurajima | 16-20 |
| Junk hauls — Snowfields | 12-16 |
| Junk hauls — Desert | 6-10 |
| Junk hauls — Mount Obsidian | 6-10 |
| Junk hauls — Forest | 5-9 |
| Junk hauls — Grasslands | 2-8 |
| Salvaging wrecks — rank 2 (Powerful Fishing Magnet) | 10-20 |
| Salvaging wrecks — rank 1 (Fishing Magnet) | 3-8 |
| Crates — large oil rig | 16-20 |
| Crates — oil rigs | 15-20 |
| Crates — small oil rig | 5-10 |
Read that as a routing decision. If coins are the goal, fish the World Tree, Dark Island and Sky Island water and ignore everything below Snowfields — the low-region rates are not worth the travel. Rank 2 salvaging is the better stop when you also want gear, since the same wrecks carry Legendary Hexolite armor and Laser Rifle schematics; the Palworld salvaging guide has those full pools, and the Palworld fishing guide covers rods and bait. Both layers are on the fishing spot map.
Sealed Chests and Overworld Coin Nodes
Elemental-sealed chests are the best per-container coin source that is not a raid, and there are 109 of them marked across the islands. Region decides the payout: the Sky Island and World Tree chests pay 20-30 apiece while the Forest, Desert and Sakurajima ones pay 10-15, and the seal element does not change the amount — an Electric-sealed chest pays exactly what the Fire- and Water-sealed ones in the same region pay. On top of that there are 128 loose Dog Coin nodes in the world, which are pure free pickups on the way to anywhere.
| Chest or node | Dog Coins | Map |
|---|---|---|
| Sealed chests — Sky Island | 20-30 | 109 sealed chests |
| Sealed chests — World Tree | 20-30 | 109 sealed chests |
| Sealed chests — Forest | 10-15 | Forest chests |
| Sealed chests — Desert | 10-15 | Desert chests |
| Sealed chests — Sakurajima | 10-15 | Sakurajima chests |
| Dog Coin nodes | Free pickup | 128 nodes |
What to Spend Dog Coins On
The Medal Shop stocks 37 items, it never rotates, and stock never runs out — so there is no rush and no fear of missing anything. What matters is that seven of those items cannot be obtained any other way in the entire game: both accessory boxes, both Lily's Spear schematics, and the nine Pal hats. Everything else in the shop also drops somewhere, which makes some of it a bad buy. One of each of the 37 costs 7,965 Dog Coins, or 7,740 if you skip the cosmetics.
Player Upgrades: Elixirs and Accessory Boxes
This is the tier to buy first. The two accessory boxes give you a permanent extra accessory slot each, they carry no level requirement at all, and the Medal Shop is their only source — 350 coins for both is the single best value in the game for a low-level character. The five elixirs each permanently raise one of your own stats and explicitly do nothing when a Pal eats one, so they are player upgrades, not Pal upgrades. They do also turn up in supply drop crates at 20% in six regions, so if you are already opening crates you may get some free.
| Item | Price | What it does | Other sources |
|---|---|---|---|
Mysterious Accessory Box | 50 | +1 accessory slot, permanent, no level gate | None — shop only |
Mystic Accessory Box | 300 | A second +1 accessory slot | None — shop only |
| 200 | Permanently raises your Attack | Supply drops, Sky Island dungeon stands | |
| 200 | Permanently raises your Health | Supply drops, Sky Island dungeon stands | |
| 200 | Permanently raises your Stamina | Supply drops, Sky Island dungeon stands | |
| 200 | Permanently raises carry capacity | Supply drops, Sky Island dungeon stands | |
| 200 | Permanently raises your Work Speed | Supply drops, Sky Island dungeon stands |
Burden Elixir is the one players underrate. Carry capacity is the stat that decides how long an ore run or a rig trip lasts before you fly home, and unlike Attack there is no gear that substitutes for it. The weapon and food slot guide covers the other permanent slot unlocks that stack with these boxes.
Pal Upgrades: Handbooks, Starfruits and Fruits
All twelve Applied Handbooks sit here at 300 coins each, and each one permanently adds +1 to one work suitability on the individual Pal that reads it — the whole set is 3,600 coins, or about fifteen Mimogs. The four Starfruits raise a Pal one star rank each and cost 50, 100, 200 and 400 as you climb. The three stat fruits are the trap: Life, Power and Stout Fruit cost 200 Dog Coins here, but the Bounty Shop sells the exact same fruits for 25 Bounty Tokens, so buying them with Dog Coins is throwing away currency you could have spent on something exclusive.
| Item | Price | What it does | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|
| 300 each | +1 work suitability, permanent, on one Pal | Buy — 3,600 for the set, also in supply drops and rank 2 wrecks | |
| 50 | Raises a Pal from ☆0 to ☆1 | Buy — also from recycling Ancient Relics | |
| 100 | ☆1 to ☆2 | Buy — also from recycling Ancient Relics | |
| 200 | ☆2 to ☆3 | Buy — also from recycling Ancient Relics | |
| 400 | ☆3 to ☆4 | Buy — also from recycling Ancient Relics | |
| 200 | Slightly raises a Pal's Health | Skip — 25 Bounty Tokens or 100 Battle Tickets instead | |
| 200 | Slightly raises a Pal's Attack | Skip — same fruit, cheaper at the Bounty Shop | |
| 200 | Slightly raises a Pal's Defense | Skip — same fruit, cheaper at the Bounty Shop |
Note that the fruits and the elixirs are not the same class of item even though they sit at the same 200-coin price: fruits go to a Pal, elixirs only work on you. Which handbook is worth spending on depends entirely on which Pal you are building — the handbook guide pairs every book with its best target, and the rank-up guide explains where Starfruits fit against the Pal Essence Condenser.
The Two Legendary Spear Schematics
The Medal Shop is the only place in Palworld that sells these two, and both are the Schematic 4 — Legendary — versions, not the base tiers. Every schematic in the game shares the same rolled-scroll icon, so the weapons themselves are shown here instead. The Enhanced Lily's Spear at 1,500 attack is the second strongest melee weapon in the game behind the Laser Sword line, and at 840 coins it is roughly four Mimog hunts for a weapon you keep for the rest of the run.
| Schematic | Price | Crafts | Attack |
|---|---|---|---|
Enhanced Lily's Spear Schematic 4 | 840 | Enhanced Lily's Spear (Legendary) | 1,500 |
Lily's Spear Schematic 4 | 600 | Lily's Spear (Legendary) | 1,075 |
Buy the enhanced one and skip the other. Those attack figures only compare against other melee weapons — a spear number and a rifle number are not the same scale — but inside that class the 425-point gap for 240 extra coins is not a close call. The full ranking is on the Palworld weapon list, and the best Legendary schematics guide covers where the rest of them come from.
Pal Hats: 25 Coins Each
Nine Pal-shaped hats round out the stock at 25 coins apiece — 225 for the lot, which is a single mid-tier raid. They all carry the same 20 Defense and 60 HP with 300 durability, which is cosmetic-tier armor rather than something you fight in, and like the accessory boxes they exist nowhere else in the game. Buy them last, but do buy them: 25 coins is nothing once the endgame raids start paying.

What to Buy First
The buy order follows one question: can you get this item any other way? Where the answer is no, coins are the only key that fits the lock. Where the answer is yes — the fruits especially — another currency buys it cheaper and your Dog Coins should go elsewhere. This order clears the exclusive stock first and the convenience purchases last.
| Order | Buy | Cost | Why now |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Mysterious Accessory Box | 50 | Shop-exclusive, no level gate, permanent — the cheapest real upgrade in the game |
| 2 | Mystic Accessory Box | 300 | Shop-exclusive, and two accessory slots reshape every build |
| 3 | 200 | Carry capacity gates every farming trip you take from here on | |
| 4 | Enhanced Lily's Spear Schematic 4 | 840 | Shop-exclusive Legendary at 1,500 attack — second best melee in the game |
| 5 | Remaining four elixirs | 800 | Permanent player stats; supply drops only trickle them out |
| 6 | 300 each | Buy per job as your base needs them, not as a set | |
| 7 | 750 for all four | Only when you have a finished Pal worth ranking up | |
| 8 | 225 for all nine | Shop-exclusive but purely cosmetic — last |
The Short Answer
Farm Mimog for 170-250 coins a kill — it is the only source you control, it drops 8,500-11,000 Gold at the same time, and there are 5,302 spawn points to work through. Stop skipping base raids, because every tier pays coins at 100% and the endgame tiers pay 200-300 a win. Fish the World Tree and Dark Island water for 18-26 a haul whenever you are near it. Then spend the first 350 coins on both accessory boxes, 840 on the Enhanced Lily's Spear Schematic 4, and work through the elixirs and handbooks from there — the shop never rotates, so nothing is ever missable.
