How to Beat Bjorn and Bastigor: Weakness, Team, and Drops
Bjorn and Bastigor is the Ice tower fight, and its ×62 HP multiplier is the biggest of any first tower battle in Palworld. Here's the Fire team that answers it, the accessories and armor to wear, all nine of Bastigor's attacks with their ranges, and the full drop table.

Bjorn and Bastigor is the Ice tower fight, and it is the beefiest opening tower battle in Palworld — the boss carries a ×62 HP multiplier, higher than any other tower boss's first encounter. It hits at completely normal damage and takes completely normal damage back, so nothing about it is unfair; it is just a long fight that punishes anyone who walks in without Fire. This guide covers the boss card, the Fire Pals that shorten it, the accessories and armor that blunt Ice, every attack in Bastigor's rotation with the ranges that matter, the hard rematch numbers, and the full drop table.
Bjorn and Bastigor at a Glance
Bastigor is a pure Ice Pal, which makes the counter list short: Fire is the only element that hits Ice for bonus damage on the element matchup chart and counter finder. The number that defines the fight is the health multiplier — at ×62 you are looking at the biggest health bar any tower boss opens with, more than twice what Faleris brings to its first battle and over five times Grizzbolt's. Everything else is generous by tower standards: damage dealt and damage taken both sit at ×1, so there is no hidden resistance eating your damage and nothing inflated one-shotting you. Every tower entrance is pinned on the interactive map with the Tower Bosses layer switched on — eight on the main map plus three more in the World Tree region.

Why Fire Is the Only Answer
The element chart runs in both directions, and that is the part people miss. Fire is strong into Ice, so a Fire Pal deals bonus damage to Bastigor — but the same relationship means a Fire Pal also takes reduced damage from Ice, which covers six of the nine attacks in Bastigor's kit. One element buys you both halves of the fight. The catch is what Ice itself is strong against: Dragon. That matters more here than almost anywhere else, because several of the hardest-hitting Fire Pals in the game are Dragon/Fire duals, and the Dragon half is exactly what Bastigor's Ice moves are built to punish. Given the choice, a pure Fire Pal is worth more here than a statistically stronger Dragon/Fire one.
| Matchup | Result |
|---|---|
| Fire attacking Bastigor | Bonus damage — the only element that gets it |
| Bastigor's Ice attacking a Fire Pal | Reduced damage |
| Bastigor's Ice attacking a Dragon Pal | Bonus damage — avoid Dragon typings |
| Bastigor's three Ground attacks | Normal damage against anything you would bring |
Best Pals to Bring Against Bastigor
Blazamut is the clean pick. It is the only pure-Fire Pal in the S band of the combat tier list, it ties the highest melee attack in the Fire pool at 150, and its single typing means every Ice move in the rotation lands soft on it. Jormuntide Ignis and Blazamut Ryu match that 150 melee and carry more bulk, but both are Dragon/Fire — you are trading defensive comfort for raw numbers, and against an Ice boss that trade is not free. If you fight at range instead, Moldron is the pick most players can actually field today: 125 ranged attack, no Dragon typing, and 101 spawn locations in the wild. Incineram is the budget answer at 105 spawn locations, matching the top melee number on a much smaller frame.
| Pal | Element | Attack | HP / Def | Why bring it |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Blazamut | Fire | 150 melee | 100 / 120 | The only pure-Fire Pal in combat S-tier — hits the weakness and resists Ice with no Dragon liability |
Jormuntide Ignis | Dragon / Fire | 150 melee | 130 / 100 | Most health of any Fire attacker, but its Dragon half takes bonus damage from every Ice move |
Blazamut Ryu | Dragon / Fire | 150 melee | 105 / 125 | Highest defense of the heavy hitters; same Dragon caveat, and it comes from a raid rather than the wild |
Moldron | Fire / Ground | 125 ranged | 110 / 115 | Ranged Fire with no Dragon typing and 101 wild spawn locations — the practical pick |
Eidrolon Ignis | Dragon / Fire | 130 ranged | 115 / 120 | Best ranged Fire attack in the group and it flies, if you can live with the Dragon half |
Incineram | Fire / Dark | 150 melee | 95 / 85 | Ties the top melee number, 105 wild spawn locations, and its Dark half is untouched by Ice |
Faleris | Fire | 110 ranged | 105 / 115 | Pure Fire flier at 47 spawn locations — softer damage, zero defensive downside |
Reptyro | Fire / Ground | 105 ranged | 110 / 120 | The survivability option: 120 defense and no Dragon typing, if the big casts keep killing your Pal |
Turn Your Own Gun Into Fire Damage
If you do most of the damage yourself rather than letting the Pal work, four partner skills convert your attacks to Fire — guns included — so your rifle inherits the same weakness multiplier your Pal does. Three trigger while mounted and one, Wixen, works while summoned, which makes Wixen the pick for anyone who fights on foot and dodges. Pyrin is the classic mounted choice because it converts and keeps you moving through the short-range attacks. None of these four is a heavy hitter on its own; the entire value is what they do to your weapon. The complete list is in All Pals That Change Your Attack Element and How It Works.
| Pal | Your Attacks Become | Trigger | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
Pyrin | Fire | While mounted | Fast ground mount — converts while you kite the short-range moves |
Ragnahawk | Fire | While mounted | Flying converter, useful for staying above the melee swings |
Chillet Ignis | Fire | While mounted | Far earlier and easier to get than the rest of this list |
Wixen | Fire | Summoned | Works on foot with any weapon — no saddle needed |
The Accessories That Matter Here
One accessory is close to purpose-built for this fight. The Faleris Ring goes on the Pal fighting beside you and stacks top-rank Ice resistance with a top-rank Fire damage boost — both halves of the matchup in a single slot — and it costs only 20 Iron Ingots, 15 Ice Organs, 15 Flame Organs and 5 Ancient Civilization Parts. If you would rather push raw numbers, the Flame Emperor's Baton and Blazamut's Talisman carry the same Fire boost with an Attack or Defense raise attached instead of the resistance. For yourself, the Wumpo Charm is the top-rank Ice resistance option and doubles as cold protection, which is convenient given where Ice fights tend to live; the Ring of Ice Resistance +2 is the cheaper stand-in. Full recipes and effects are in List of All Pal Rings: Effects and Recipes and on the accessories database.
| Accessory | Who wears it | What it does |
|---|---|---|
Faleris Ring | Your Pal | Top-rank Ice resistance and top-rank Fire damage boost |
Flame Emperor's Baton | Your Pal | Same Fire boost, with an Attack raise instead of the resistance |
Blazamut's Talisman | Your Pal | Same Fire boost, with a Defense raise instead of the resistance |
Wumpo Charm | You | Top-rank Ice resistance plus cold protection |
| Ring of Ice Resistance +2 | You | Cheaper Ice resistance if the Wumpo Charm is out of reach |
Armor and Guns to Bring
Cold-Resistant Ancient Armor is the body piece for this one — 840 defense and 2,400 HP at Technology 77, and it is one of the few chestplates carrying an innate Ice resistance line on top of its cold protection. That line is small next to what an accessory gives you, but it is free, and against a health bar this size every percent you shave off six Ice attacks compounds. The Cold-Resistant Ancient Armor guide covers where the Legendary schematic comes from.
On weapons, read the numbers the right way: attack ratings only compare inside a weapon class. The Beam Launcher tops the launchers at 14,000 and the Charge Rifle tops the rifles at 12,500, and those two are not on the same scale as each other. The Plasma Rifle earns its slot on 25,000 durability rather than its 1,860 attack — against the biggest opening health bar in the tower roster, a gun that never needs repairing mid-run is worth more than one that hits marginally harder. Full rankings are in the Best Guns Tier List. The short checklist before you queue up: a Fire Pal in the party, one Fire boost accessory on it, one Ice resistance accessory on you, the best body armor you can actually craft, and enough ammo for a long fight rather than a burst one.
| Gear | Type | Key numbers | Tech |
|---|---|---|---|
Cold-Resistant Ancient Armor | Body armor | 840 defense, 2,400 HP, innate Ice resistance | 77 |
Beam Launcher | Rocket launcher | 14,000 attack (launcher scale) | 80 |
Charge Rifle | Assault rifle | 12,500 attack (rifle scale) | 65 |
Plasma Rifle | Assault rifle | 1,860 attack, 25,000 durability | 78 |
Every Attack in Bastigor's Rotation
Six of Bastigor's nine moves are Ice and the other three are Ground, which is the wrinkle a Fire team has to plan around: Stone Cannon, Rockburst and Rocky Impact ignore your Fire resistance entirely. Rocky Impact is the one to respect there — a 600-power melee swing that still reaches out to 5,000 units, so distance alone does not save you from it. The heaviest hit in the kit is Double Blizzard Spike at 700 power. Powers and cooldowns for every skill in the game are on the active skills list, and remember the tower applies a ×2 cooldown multiplier: a 30-second move is a 60-second move in here.
| Attack | Element | Power | Cooldown | Type | Range |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Double Blizzard Spike | Ice | 700 | 30s | Shot | 1,000 – 5,000 |
| Glacial Impact | Ice | 650 | 30s | Melee | 0 – 3,000 |
| Diamond Rain | Ice | 600 | 30s | Shot | 0 – 5,000 |
| Rocky Impact | Ground | 600 | 30s | Melee | 0 – 5,000 |
| Frost Talon | Ice | 300 | 16s | Melee | 0 – 1,200 |
| Rockburst | Ground | 300 | 16s | Shot | 0 – 1,200 |
| Crystal Breath | Ice | 160 | 8s | Shot | 500 – 1,500 |
| Iceberg | Ice | 120 | 8s | Shot | 100 – 5,000 |
| Stone Cannon | Ground | 120 | 8s | Shot | 500 – 2,500 |
The ranges tell you how to stand. Double Blizzard Spike, the single biggest hit, has a minimum range of 1,000 units — get inside that and Bastigor cannot use its best attack at all. The cost of closing in is Frost Talon and Rockburst, which only reach 1,200 units and are the two 300-power fillers, so you are trading a 700 for a pair of 300s. That is a good trade if your Pal is soaking the hits and a bad one if you are. Playing beyond 1,500 units instead removes Frost Talon, Rockburst and Crystal Breath from the fight but leaves all four heavy casts fully live.
Where This Fight Sits Among the Towers
Lined up against the rest of the tower roster, Bastigor's first battle is an outlier in one direction only. Its ×62 health is comfortably the largest opening health multiplier — Selyne is next at ×54 and Grizzbolt sits at a gentle ×12 — while its damage output and damage resistance are the standard ×1 and ×1 that every tower opener uses. In plain terms this is not a harder fight than the others so much as a longer one, and the thing that shortens it is bringing Fire, not bringing better armor. Panthalus is the one tower Pal with no hard rematch at all.
| Tower Boss | Element | First HP × | First deals × | Hard HP × | Hard takes × |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Bastigor | Ice | 62 | 1 | 75 | 0.18 |
Selyne | Dark / Neutral | 54 | 1 | 93 | 0.20 |
Shaolong | Dragon / Water | 50 | 0.9 | 88 | 0.20 |
Panthalus | Water | 42 | 0.83 | — | — |
Astralym | — | 40 | 0.7 | 405 | 0.45 |
Shadowbeak | Dark | 28 | 1 | 100 | 0.25 |
Faleris | Fire | 27 | 1 | 110 | 0.15 |
Lyleen | Grass | 25 | 1 | 100 | 0.12 |
Orserk | Dragon / Electric | 25 | 1 | 110 | 0.15 |
Grizzbolt | Electric | 12 | 1 | 100 | 0.10 |
The Hard Mode Rematch
Bastigor's rematch is the strangest one on the board, because the health barely moves. Every other tower boss multiplies its health pool several times over for hard mode — Grizzbolt goes from ×12 to ×100, Faleris from ×27 to ×110 — while Bastigor climbs only from ×62 to ×75, the smallest step in the game and the lowest hard-mode health multiplier of any tower boss. What actually changes is the other two lines: damage output jumps tenfold and damage taken collapses to ×0.18, meaning the boss absorbs 82% of everything you throw at it. Since the health bar was never the problem, the rematch is won on survivability and weakness damage rather than burst, and a non-Fire team will run the clock out long before it runs the boss out of health. Every multiplier for every fight is on the tower boss list.
| Multiplier | First battle | Hard rematch |
|---|---|---|
| HP | ×62 | ×75 |
| Damage dealt | ×1 | ×10 |
| Damage taken | ×1 | ×0.18 |
| Cooldown | ×2 | ×2 |
What Bjorn and Bastigor Drop
The payout is one of the better ones in the game and almost all of it is guaranteed rather than a gamble. Ice Radiant Gems are the headline for anyone still awakening Ice Pals at 10 to 20 per kill on a 100% roll, and the relic haul underneath is arguably the bigger prize — Decayed, Dormant and Gorgeous relics all land every single time, and those are the feedstock for the Ancient Relic Recycler's schematic rolls. The one-in-four Glistening Ancient Relic is what you are really hoping for there, since it fires the recycler's best odds. Bjorn's own headpiece is in the game too: the Bjorn Hat is a 20-defense, 60-HP cosmetic that costs a single Cloth to make, and you will want it for the collection rather than the stats.
| Drop | Chance | Amount |
|---|---|---|
Ice Radiant Gem | 100% | 10 – 20 |
Decayed Ancient Relic | 100% | 30 – 50 |
Dormant Ancient Relic | 100% | 10 – 20 |
Gorgeous Ancient Relic | 100% | 4 – 8 |
Glowing Ancient Relic | 50% | 2 – 3 |
Glistening Ancient Relic | 25% | 1 |
Ice Organ | 100% | 2 – 5 |
Leather | 100% | 2 – 3 |
World Tree Holy Water | 50% | 1 – 3 |
Bjorn Hat | Cosmetic | 20 defense, 60 HP, 1 Cloth to craft |
Catching and Riding Bastigor Afterwards
You do not have to beat the tower to own one. Bastigor appears at 69 spawn locations across the map, day and night alike — open the interactive map with Bastigor's spawns pinned and pick the closest. It is worth catching for three separate reasons: it is one of only fourteen Pals in combat S-tier at 130 ranged attack and 140 HP, it rides once you unlock Bastigor's Hammer at Technology 73, and its Cooling Level 8 is among the best refrigeration you can park at a base. Lumbering 6 and Mining 5 round it out, so it is not a one-job Pal.
Breeding is the other route, with a catch — Bastigor is excluded from the normal combination pool, so the only pairing that produces one is Bastigor with Bastigor. Run the numbers on any pair in the Palworld breeding calculator, and check its full move list and work numbers on the Bastigor stats and location page.
